JOB SUMMARY

Troubleshoots, installs, and maintains CCTV and alarm detection systems. Plans, designs, and expands Genetec Omnicast CCTV and Genetec Synergis access control systems. Performs advanced troubleshooting of network, hardware, or configuration issues impacting CCTV and Access Control systems. Must acquire understanding of and perform troubleshooting of alarm systems at the Boardwalk. Additional responsibilities include providing technical assistance on other systems supported by the Technical Services department

The Security Systems Administrator is responsible for performing the most complex of activities related to the configuration, operation, and maintenance of CCTV, access control and alarm systems.

JOB TASKS (in order of importance):

  • Install, configure, and maintain onsite and offsite Genetec Security Center client machines and servers.

  • Plan and execute security system projects to ensure that provided services meet operational requirements for both short-term and long-term business goals.

  • Perform database backups of Genetec Security Center server appliances.

  • Advanced Genetec Omnicast configuration, including managing and adding server roles, video units, configuration of stream usage, etc. Troubleshooting of streaming issues and performance issues.

  • Advanced configuration of Genetec Synergis access control system, including the creation of doors, access rules, cardholder groups, schedules, etc.

  • Management of Genetec user accounts, user roles, access rights and partitions which align with security best practices. The ability to work with a variety of non-technical staff to ensure implemented rules align with best practices, expectations, and business needs.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of CCTV hardware (Axis, Pelco), access control hardware (Axis and Mercury), Cloud Link appliances, and alarm notification systems.

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of network issues impacting CCTV and access control system performance.

  • Management of Security Center software licensing, updating software licensing as needed through system integrator.

  • Train staff in proper use of Security Desk and Config Tool software, and proper understanding of CCTV and Access Control system concepts.

  • Quickly solve reported issues and document resolutions within the IT ticketing system and internal knowledge base.

  • Coordinate, train, and motivate staff.

  • Meet with investigations, loss prevention, and security leadership regularly to ensure that future development of technical systems aligns with their operational goals.

  • Prepare training materials, update operating manuals and systems equipment blueprints, document equipment usage, failures, and repairs.

  • Assist in the development of short and long-term service plans and infrastructure development.

  • Make recommendations for maintenance, upgrades and use of installed security systems and equipment.

  • Provide electronic security system support by assessing equipment needs and coordinate repairs.

  • May provide backup support to other technical systems and equipment including but not limited to radios, sound and lighting systems, computer hardware and software, physical animation, point-of-sale systems, VOIP and analog telephone systems.

  • Record labor and material usage for billing.

  • Direct work of subcontractors for various projects.

  • Research and purchase necessary equipment.

  • Operate various hand tools including soldering irons, crimping tools, cutters, screwdrivers, pliers, and wrenches.

  • Perform a wide variety of manual labor tasks such as moving, setting up and installing equipment.

  • Operate company vehicles and other support equipment including forklifts, motorized carts, and personnel lifts.

  • Follow verbal and written directions to perform duties.

  • May climb up scaffolding, ladders, and use powered lifts to install equipment.

  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

At least five years of progressive experience in the setup, operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of CCTV, access control and alarm systems. Familiarity with the architecture and configuration of Genetec Omnicast CCTV systems and Genetec Synergis access control systems, and familiarity with a variety of access control hardware. Active Genetec Synergis or Genetec Omnicast certifications, or the ability to get a certification within 3 months of hire date.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Active Genetec Synergis or Genetec Omnicast certification, or the ability to get a certification within 3 months of hire date.

  • Understanding of networking concepts used by the CCTV and access control systems, including DHCP, NTP, VLANs, NAT rules and 802.1x network authentication, preferably within a Cisco ISE environment.

  • Basic familiarity with the configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco Catalyst switchgear.

  • Excellent knowledge of principles and concepts of IP and analog CCTV systems, access control systems, alarm systems and low voltage signaling systems.

  • Comprehensive understanding of the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of CCTV, Access Control, and security systems.

  • Ability to plan, design, troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair a variety of technical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to plan, direct, evaluate, and coordinate security system expansion projects to ensure that services meet operational requirements for both short term and long-range business plans.

  • Ability to identify, diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair CCTV, Access Control, and alarm system issues.

  • Ability to prepare training materials, update operating manuals and document equipment usage, failures, and repairs.

  • Ability to troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair a variety of technical systems and equipment.

  • Ability to install, use and support a variety of computer software programs and operating systems.

  • Ability to learn about other aspects of the Technical Services Department.

  • Ability to learn and stay current on technological systems.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work activities for self and staff.

  • Ability to supervise, train, schedule, evaluate and motivate staff.

  • Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting procedures.

  • Ability to use various hand tools and equipment including personnel lifts, forklifts, trucks, and front loaders.

  • Ability to obtain electric cart certification and operate the same.

  • Ability to handle and adjust to changing priorities.

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to work with staff in other company departments to coordinate work.

  • Ability to provide consistent, friendly, and helpful service to employees and guests.

  • Ability to keep information confidential.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to hear normal conversations, read instructions and write documentation.

  • Able to lift 70 pounds from ground to waist height.

  • Bi-manual dexterity.

  • Comfortable with heights up to 40 feet.

  • Able to stand and walk up to 8 hours at a time.

  • Able to work in a noisy environment.

  • Able to move equipment which would include pushing, pulling, stooping and shoving.
