As a Security Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing the 24/7 security operations at the Kaman Precision Products facility in Middletown, CT. Under the general direction of the Sr. Manager of Facilities & Security, you will be responsible for providing physical security protection to safeguard personnel and property against fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry and other hazards. Specific duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate activities of the guard force for facility. Develop work schedules, assign and review work.
Perform 4 hour guard post duty during 1st shift.
Interpret security rules and direct subordinates in enforcing compliance, such as issuance/recovery of security badges, inspection of packages and/or vehicles entering company premises. Respond to calls during fires, storms or other emergencies. Prepare reports as required.
Cooperate with police, fire, civil defense authorities, and insurance carrier representative in addressing issues affecting establishment.
Review reports such as incident, injury, security, etc. as logged/submitted and take action, as appropriate.
Conduct investigations involving thefts of company property as well as any other illegal activity. Interview witnesses, take statements and issue final reports.
Establish and maintain effective internal/external communication to facilitate problem identification and resolution. Interface with vendor providing uniform service, order new and replacement uniforms.
Assist in developing department goals and objectives. Monitor department budgets. Interview, hire, train and discipline department personnel in accordance with company policies, federal and state regulations. Complete and conduct performance appraisals for employees under supervision.
Maintain all required records, logs and files.
Must have ability to protect self in line of duty and handle any emergency situation normally encountered by a police officer. Ability to obtain/maintain security clearance.
Work vacant post(s) when necessary.
Perform inspections of fire extinguishers, fire doors, and emergency lighting on a regular schedule and maintain required documentation.
Perform physical exercising of the fire suppression system as determined on a preventative maintenance schedule and document.
High School diploma or equivalent.
2 years additional specialized training in security or law enforcement operations.
Thorough knowledge of a specialized field such as Plant or Fire Protection.
Fluent verbal and written communication skills. Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Excel, Word, and badge processing software applications.
Knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes
