The Supervisor Security plans, supervises and coordinates Security Officers to monitor and ensure safety conditions within Boys Town properties. Develops and implements a coordinated program of security services for Boys Town.
Schedule: M-F 8:00am-5:00pm and on-call as needed
Supervises and coordinates Security Officers to monitor and ensure safety conditions within Boys Town properties.
Prepares and maintains work schedules for assigned staff to ensure duties are covered on a daily basis. Ensures overtime is used appropriately. Adjusts to staffing shortages appropriately to get necessary work completed on shift.
Coordinates the activities of the Security Officers with interrelated activities of other divisions to ensure optimum efficiency and economy.
Supervises, coordinates, and reviews the work of Security Officers. Directs and coordinates through security personnel the activities and functions, policies, standards, and practices.
Conducts orientation and on-the-job training program for all Security personnel.
Assists the Manager Security in preparing and reviewing the departmental budget to include personnel, equipment and supply needs for the Security Department.
Supervises security work including patrolling buildings, grounds, overseeing parking areas, other Boys Town properties. Conducts routine investigations of incidents that occur within Boys Town properties.
Responds to emergency situations and maintains control of the situation until the appropriate key personnel are contacted and on the scene.
Receives and reviews crime and property damage reports; performs the necessary follow-up; notifies appropriate personnel and makes any necessary reports regarding additional facts, records, and information.
Implements a coordinated program of security services for Boys Town.
Inspects or directs the inspection of the premises to test the security systems, detect safety hazards. Ensures safety policies are enforced.
Assists Manager Security in developing administrative and operational policies and procedures regarding various Boys Town facilities to meet required standards.
Assists Manager Security in developing and maintaining a uniform keying system to include Card access & key access data base and locks.
Coordinates with facilities on new construction/remodel projects, which create security vulnerability.
Oversees various service programs such as the management of lost and found property, valuables security, patient/visitor safety searches by manually logging in items to ensure property is kept safe until it is retrieved by the proper owners or until purged from the system.
May represent the Security team as a member of various committees.
Trains security staff in Life Safety procedures such as Fire door, Fire Extinguishers, Exit Light testing, along with inspections for clear egress pathway for all staff, visitors, and patients.
Trains staff on the process of ISLM documents, along with staff training and performing Fire Watch as required.
Assists Manager Security in developing required policies, plans and training for the Security department to provide assistance with uncooperative or combative visitors, patients and/or youth.
Undergraduate degree in criminal justice or related field or comparable work experience.
A minimum of five years of experience in Security, Military, or Law Enforcement, preferred.
A minimum of two years supervisory experience.
Working knowledge of administrative practices, procedures, and methodology including areas of planning, budgeting, and supervision.
Knowledge of security (including standard fire alarm system procedures, large building utility systems procedures, preferably in a non-profit/ health or related organization).
Ability to work rotating shifts; including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
Ability to work at multiple Boys Town property locations.
Must be 21 years of age.
Must possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record and pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check.
Ability to complete and maintain certification in the nationally recognized personal restraint training model (SCM) within 60 days of hire.
Ability to administer First Aid and complete and maintain BLS (CPR) certification.
