This position is located in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Intelligence and Research (INR). The incumbent serves as a Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary and manages the Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) adjudicative review for the Department of State. The Bureau of INR is the lead organization for the management of SCI from member agencies of the Intelligence Community (IC) and for the management and supervision of designated special access programs (SAP).

Manages the program of review for adjudication cases with sensitive issues, concerns, or problems that require substantive reviewagainst criteria established for the protection of national security.
Serves as an expert Security Advisor to the Head of the Intelligence Community Element (HOICE) for SCI security policy and the SCI Adjudicative Program.
Keeps abreast of Intelligence Community, Department of of State, INR and Diplomatic Security policies, plans, initiatives, and development that impact the protection of SCI.
Assists with the development of long range plans and policies for enhancing the efficiency of SCI security operations.
Recommends SCI access suspensions or terminations to the Head of the Intelligence Community Element (HOICE), the INR Assistant Secretary, in coordination with the INR Senior Security Advisor.
Reviews and recommends approval or disapproval of all SCI nomination requests for Department of State employees, contractor , and detailees in coordination with the INR Senior Security Advisor.
Occasional travel - Some travel may be required.

Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
1.Experience adjudicating personnel security and suitability for individuals requiring access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
2.Experience implementing and administering security policy and practices as they apply to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
