Security Specialist I Nswc, IHD

IMMEDIATE HIRE. FULLY FUNDED

Location:Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Indian Head, Maryland

Security Specialist I duties include, but are not limited to:

• Detailed oriented Security Specialist for NSWC provides professional assistance to the senior manager and employees providing command level support.
• Utilize Department of Defense and security experience to provide access control and visitor request support.
• Process expected visitor forms, verify vetting and vetting forms to submit for approval, issue visitor passes, and send visit requests using Defense Information System for Security (DISS).
• Verify clearances in DISS for visit requests received, process badge paperwork, and issue badges.
• May assist in initial and periodic investigations and assist with fingerprinting and in-processing of new employees. perform day to day office duties in support of the security office.
• Handle secure information, so prior knowledge of how this information should be handled and stored is required.
• Classify and declassify classified and CUI information materials, and shred classified or CUI material
• Check security containers to ensure all classified material inside is marked correctly and accounted for
• Verify security containers modernality according to regulation, and change locks on security containers and security doors
• Check accountability Standard on 700, 701 and 702 form in buildings
• Transport and supervise CUI material to NSA for destruction
• Inspect future shred waste for improper material
• Ensure buildings have the right classified shredders according to regulation
• Check and label hardware/ printers, shredders as classified or unclassified

Requirements

• Must have advanced working knowledge of MS Office, and a willingness to learn other duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills:

• Working knowledge of Defense Information System for Security (DISS) formerly Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPASS) is desired, but not mandatory.

Qualifications:

• Active DoD secret clearance is required to start.
  
• Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
