Job Description

We are seeking a Cyber Security specialist with experience in Risk Management. As an integral member of the security team, primary responsibility will include conducting risk assessments and supporting daily operations using up-to-date tools and technologies to protect the division IT systems and information. Responsibilities may include providing development and documentation support for policies and procedures within the Department of Justice Criminal Division enterprise.

You will work hand-in-hand with the division Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) on a daily basis and therefore must be able to work collaboratively with the customer and other staff elements.

What You'll Get to Do:

  • Write and educate others how to write System Security Plans (implementation statements are part of this).

  • Write and manage Plans of Actions and Milestones

  • Produce training materials to educate stakeholders on the risk assessment cycle

  • Perform Risk Assessments of Information Systems, including managing the findings, concurrence, POA&Ms and risk acceptance cycle

  • Write and maintain policy statements that align with security requirements and maintain the Division Common Control Program

  • Write and maintain document templates that comply with security requirements and drive stakeholders to provide compliant documentation

  • Produce/Modify processes around Risk Management concepts

  • Perform monthly, quarterly and annual metric collections including data collection from multiple stakeholders, analysis and reporting

  • Responsible for implementing and applying technologies, processes, and practices designed to protect networks, devices, programs, and data from malicious attack, damage, or unauthorized access.

  • Maintains network device and information security incident, damage and threat assessment programs.

  • Researches and maintains proficiency in tools, techniques, countermeasures, and trends in computer and network vulnerabilities, data hiding and network and device security and encryption.

  • May participate with the client in the strategic design process to translate security and business requirements into technical designs.

  • Configures and validates secure systems, tests security products/systems to detect computer and information security weakness.

  • Provides information assurance for digital information, ensuring its confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

  • Supervise work of another team member

  • Demonstrated experience training others on risk assessment cycle and producing needed training materials

  • Experience writing System Security Plans

  • Experience writing and managing Plans of Actions and Milestones

  • Demonstrated experience performing risk assessments

  • Demonstrated experience creating and documenting security policy, process, and procedures, specifically for Risk Management.

  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent, and ten years of related experience.

  • Must possess active Top Secret clearance.

The purpose of this position is to provide support to the security program for DOE Headquarters facilities. Learn more Learn more about this agency Responsibilities As a Security Specialist you will: * Act as Headquarters security liaison with Forrestal Office of Management and Administration for physical security related facility issues as directed by the Director, Office of Physical Protection. Assure communication and accurate transference of information regarding time critical situations, and report to senior management to determine if follow up actions are necessary. Coordinate the development and implementation of forms required by the Office of Physical Protection. * Analyze, interpret, and makes recommendations for the implementation of Headquarters-wide orders, plans, and procedural guidance for the Office of Physical Protection. Reviews the adequacy of Headquarters orders and procedural guidance, and provide recommendations to the Director, Office of Physical Protection for revising orders or procedures in response to Headquarters deficiencies and problem areas. Provide technical assistance to Headquarters staff and contractors in implementing Headquarters orders and procedures, and correcting problem areas. * Keep management apprised of activities within assigned area of responsibility and prepare and present briefings on significant issues as requested by the Director, Office of Physical Protection. Prepare documentation of activities within assigned area of responsibility and maintain records of incidents and activities that will be useful in future planning and management, or that will provide a historical record of program evolution. * Review and analyze security posture in an effort to identify deficiencies, and make corrections and/or recommendations as needed.
