SUMMARY: The Security Service Technician will service, configure and install Access Control Systems, Analog & IP CCTV Systems, DVR's & NVR's, Burglar Alarms, Intercom systems and Telephone Entry Systems, and associated equipment and configurations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Interface with customer personnel developing relationships and demonstrating systems; providing training as needed.

  • Use technical manuals and interface with manufacturer's technical support to troubleshoot problems

  • Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation.

  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, and all security features in order to ensure proper functioning, and to diagnose malfunctions.

  • Service, maintain, or repair security systems, alarm devices, and related equipment, following blueprints of electrical layouts and building plans.

  • Feed cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach fixture outlets; then position and terminate cables, wires and strapping.

  • Inspect sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals in order to determine materials requirements for service procedures.

  • Adjust sensitivity of units based on room structures and manufacturers' recommendations, using programming keypads.

  • Test and repair circuits and sensors, following wiring and system specifications.

  • Drill holes for wiring in wall studs, joists, ceilings, and floors.

  • Demonstrate systems for customers, and explain details such as the causes and consequences of false alarms.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to work overtime/weekends as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school degree or equivalency; Electronic Trade School is preferred; 3 years of maintenance/ installation experience.

Familiarity in the following:

CCTV: Exacq, Milestone, Video Insight, Avigilon, etc.

Access Control: Open Options, Software House, Amag, etc.

Fire Alarm: Firelite, Vigilant, EST, Simplex, etc.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Microsoft Office

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver's License, proof of insurance

The physical demands of the position include occasional sitting; frequent stooping, crouching, kneeling, balancing, and climbing; and constant standing, walking, reaching, and gripping. Material handling demands include lifting from floor level to overhead, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. and frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., placing the position in the Medium Heavy Physical Demand Classification (PDC). Must be able to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Alleviates service concerns the customer may have regarding a fire alarm, security or CCTV systems. Advises customers and the Service Response Center (SRC) of the status of service calls. How you will do it * Locate and alleviate trouble with damaged equipment or wiring, (i.e., shorts, grounds, open circuits). * Repair or replace inoperative equipment and test for operation. * Read blueprints, building and electrical plans in order to complete equipment repairs. * Complete service tickets using work order management system. * Performs service of security, close circuit television, Access Control and fire alarm systems. * Complete all forms accurately such as customer paperwork as required, such as service tickets. * Ability to work both individually and in a team environment. * Ability to work with district scheduler and office personnel on day-to-day activities. What we look for Required * Demonstrated technical aptitude. * Able to use hand and power tools (i.e. drills, saws, etc.) * Basic computer skills required, (i.e., Word, Excel, email). * Attention to detail. * Good communication and listening skills. * Depending on location, the mounting and termination of low voltage devices may have special licensing requirements. * Plus two years' experience in installing electronic systems. * Demonstrated knowledge of fire alarm systems, Access Control, and/or CCTV. * Must be process oriented and driven to increase productivity metrics for service department. * Must be comfortable in front of customers. * Willing to work overtime and be part of a rotating on-call schedule. Preferred * Electrical background a plus. * NICET Certified in Fire Alarm Systems a plus. * Knowledge of NFPA 72.
