A Security Officer's main responsibilities are monitoring and protecting hospital patients, employees, guests and property, preserving the peace, preventing crime, and detecting and detaining violators. Daily tasks include responding to hospital emergency codes, patrolling lots and clinics in squad car, rounding of aggressive flagged patients or those at risk for security intervention, writing reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences, and liaison to orient responding law enforcement agencies.

Schedule:

• Part-time 32-60 hours every two weeks (will need to work additional hours during training.)

• Straight nights 11p.m. to 7:30 a.m.

• Friday night, every other Saturday and Sunday night, and occasional weekday overnights

Pay and Benefits:

• Minimum hourly rate of $19.70/hr; more with related experience

• Overnight shift differential of $3/hr and Weekend Shift Differential of $1.05/hr

• $2,000 hiring bonus

Qualifications:

• A valid Minnesota driver's license and a driving record in good standing are required.

• Minimum training and certification up to the level of EMR within 90 days of hire

• Must become certified in the use of the ASP expandable baton, handcuffing, NCI and X26 taser, as well as experience the effects of receiving a taser hit within 6 months of hire - Training on this is provided.

• Current American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Healthcare Provider card required prior to completion of unit orientation.

• Experience in security, policing, training in law enforcement or private security preferred

Hiring Bonus: To be eligible for the hiring bonus you must be an external candidate who is hired into an eligible full-time or part-time benefited position. Previous CentraCare employees qualify if they have not worked for CentraCare for at least 9 months at the date of hire.
