About You

As a Security Program Manager you will manage the cross-functional execution of strategic projects across a variety of project types at AppDynamics. This role requires:

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and planning skills

  • Assessing and managing risk

  • Solving complex problems

  • Applying judgment to balance process compliance with achievement of business objectives.

  • Customer back focus in setting goals, success measures and priorities

  • Lead with empathy and inquiry with key internal customers and stakeholders

  • Drive accountability across the organization to deliver to commitments.

You will focus on meeting the needs of both external and internal customers and stakeholders. This is a senior position requiring experience in project management and people management in a matrixed organization. You could be someone coming from either a project/program or development management background. It is required that you are well versed in traditional waterfall as well as Scaled Agile or Agile Development methodologies.

You will need to show ability to lead single phase, short term projects across multiple functions as well as longer, highly complex strategic initiatives that span multiple years.

You will need to be comfortable and confident in managing high risk, high reward security initiatives for the company. (dollars, risk, etc.)

Technical aptitude will be a benefit when working closely with Development Managers, Project Managers, Product Managers, other functional managers to drive projects and process execution successfully.

Responsibilities:

Program Execution: Drives cross-functional execution of a program, from requirements to delivery and ensures that a program delivers on time with high quality, in accordance with stated business and technical objectives.

Planning & Tracking: Creates, optimizes, and drives structured schedules and project plans across projects and cross-functional teams. Sets and meets deadlines with quality deliverables, effectively adapting and modifying plans based on changing data or conditions. Assists in planning and ensuring that a project tracks to resources, time to market, and budget constraints. Assists in ensuring adherence to quality & other relevant standards (e.g. interoperability, architectural compliance, UI guidelines). Tracks open issues and effectively negotiate to impact decisions and trade-offs and to guide issues within internal and external groups to resolution. Holds program team members accountable for their commitments, milestones, resources, and deliverables.

Risk Mgmt. & Problem Solving: Anticipates, identifies, documents, and manages key program risks, proposing appropriate mitigation and contingency plans. Identifies cross-functional dependencies and tracks and reports on their progress. Proposes workable solutions to problems by analyzing business and technical trade-offs among alternatives, and uses objective judgment and influence to formulate and drive consensus on recommendations.

Prioritization: Balances process compliance with critical few and achievement of business objectives to consistently make the right strategic trade-offs for the program. Assigns priorities to multiple competing and important program team activities quickly and effectively and communicates them appropriately.

Communication and Coordination: Frames communication and discussions for the intended audience, with appropriate context and line of sight. Documents and communicates status, issues, and risks in a timely manner to stakeholders and senior management. Ensures that the appropriate documents exist and are broadly communicated to drive shared vision among the program teams. Creates clearly understandable & actionable success criteria, objectives, and requirements and communicates them to the team. Conducts program and cross-functional team meetings to update status, and identify and resolve issues. Achieves quality results through team interaction and effective cross-group collaboration.

Requirements:

  • BS/BA in Business or Technical Discipline required

  • 10+ years of hands on project/program management in fast moving, highly complex SaaS environment

  • 5+ years in technical discipline with project management responsibilities

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, critical thinking, written and oral communication, project management and good presentation skills to be successful in this role.

  • PMP highly desired for this role (bonus if you also have process development/automation experience)

  • Experience in leading security compliance projects/programs is highly desired (FedRAMP, ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.)
