Our uniformed Security Officers provide protection of work site, personnel, and assets from events such as assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents, to include responsibility for highly regulated access control, in Anchorage, AK at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport.
Security Officers currently work a 12-hour rotational shift schedule consisting of 1 week on / 1 week off (7 days/week). A base pay period (2-weeks) earns 40 regular hours, combined with 44 hours of additional overtime pay. Approximate monthly income starting at $4,000.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have at least one (1) year of work experience with a municipal, state, or federal law enforcement agency, military police unit, corrections activity, or private security company within the past five years.
- Must be at least 19 years of age
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must have a valid driver's license
- Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge upon hire
- Must be able to pass an initial background check (public records)
- Possess or be able to attain State of Alaska Unarmed Security Guard license before starting work

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) or more years of work experience with a municipal, state, or federal law enforcement agency, military police unit, corrections activity, or private security company within the past five years
- Fluent in a second language
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Visually, electronically and/or audibly monitors a variety of assigned areas, or grounds by working in a variety of assignments which may include, but are not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, stationary checkpoints, and other locations deemed appropriate
- Examines and verifies personnel credentials and vehicle placarding to ensure that access is authorized
- Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance
- Verbally de-escalates situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers and clients
- Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the facility to determine they are secure
- Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc.in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators
- Notifies on site individuals of visitors wishing to see them
- Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol
- May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs
- May issue and record ID badges
- May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational
- Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met
