Job Description:

  • Observes and reports activities and incidents at an assigned client site, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.

  • Makes periodic patrols to check for irregularities and to inspect protection devices and fire control equipment.

  • Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.

  • Controls access to client site or facility through the admittance process

  • Patrols assigned site on foot or in vehicle; checks for unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.

  • Protects evidence or scene of incident in the event of accidents, emergencies, or security investigations.

  • Responds to incidents of fire, medical emergency, bomb threat, flooding, water discharge, elevator emergency, hazardous materials, inclement weather, and other incidents.

  • Prepares logs and reports as required.

  • Specific duties or tasks may vary and be documented separately. The employee might not be required to perform all functions listed. Additional duties may be assigned, and functions may be modified, according to business necessity.


  • With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of this job may include the following: seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling. Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain. Additional physical requirements may include, frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.

This position handles progressively responsible work in implementing and/or overseeing the various phases and specialized areas including administration of examination process, employment and recruitment process, references/backgrounds checks, maintenance of the classification and compensation plans, training, alternative work programs and employee recognition. The selected candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills, exhibit excellent customer service skills, be a quick learner and detailed oriented; as well as, able to make decisions, maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion. Illustrative Duties (NOTE: These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position.) * May supervise other employees. * Counsels and advises employees on grievance procedures and rights as outlined in Federal Equal Employment Legislation and Property Appraiser's Merit System Rules and Regulations. * Independently conducts desk audits and job analysis. Makes appropriate recommendations. Assists in creating new classifications and assignments to appropriate pay range. * Helps analyze wage and salary survey results, recommending any adjustment to present classification and compensation plan. Prepares statistical analysis and reports. * Assists with developing innovative, short and long term organizational diversity recruitment strategies to establish pools of qualified and diverse applicants. * Assists with establishing comprehensive metrics and utilizes the applicant tracking system to effectively monitor, analyze and benchmark the Property Appraiser's Office progress in workforce diversity as submitted to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. * Assists with collecting and analyzing statistical data and preparing various reports including quarterly summaries, forecasts, trends and workforce analysis. Assists with presenting findings and recommendations to management and assists management in interpreting data for effective results. * Identifies actual, perceived and/or potential barriers to recruiting qualified and diverse candidates. * Represents the Property Appraiser's Office at local and state level recruitment events to include job fairs, schools, colleges/universities, conferences and other engagements. * Keeps abreast in current trends of recruitment. * Coordinates recruiting, selection and processing of applicants for internal and external selection processes. Partners with hiring managers to develop and implement recruitment strategies. * Develops interview questions and pre-employment tests or assessments. Screens applicants. Maintains relevant records, statistics and documentation. * Under general direction, designs and conducts training. May coordinate with outside agency for training. * Designs, implements and coordinates alternative work programs, employee incentive programs and recognition programs. * Coordinates special reports for various applications. * Trains, schedules, assigns, monitors, reviews, and evaluates the work of assigned staff. * May monitor and/or assist with budgetary issues and prepares annual budget recommendations for employee benefits. * Works on special projects including preparation of mathematical or other spreadsheets. * Exercises good judgment. * Attends work on a regular and consistent basis. * Responds to emergency situations. * Must adhere to Federal, State, County and Local ordinances. * Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Human Resources, Organizational Development or related field and two (2) years of professional level Human Resources experience in a Human Resources division. A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Having met the minimum requirement, the preferred candidate will have experience in recruitment and selection, classification and compensation, Neogov or a similar applicant tracking system, and able to complete projects/tasks using Microsoft Suite programs. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License at time of hire. Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License within two (2) weeks of hire. Professional Human Resources Certifications (e.g., ATD, IPMA, PHR/SPHR, SHRMCP/SCP) preferred.
