The Assistant Director of Security will be 8-5, Monday through Friday in the Security Department.The Assistant Director of Security reports directly to the Director of Security and works with the Director in the development and implementation of the Security program at North Texas State Hospital Security Department-Wichita Falls Campus.

Directly supervises the Shift supervisors, in order to carry out the Mission of the Security Department. Coordinates a comprehensive Security program to ensure the safety and well-being of patients, employees and the public. Protects state and personal property and prevents unauthorized departures of patients.

Coordinates investigations as directed. Serves on the Security Quality Improvement Team (QIT). Responsible for assisting in the formulating, implementing and updating Security policy and procedures. Works closely with Unit Program Directors, DRB coordinator and other service department directors to ensure coordinated, quality services are provided. The Assistant Director of Security is on call 24 hours a day unless approved otherwise by the Director of Security.Essential Job Functions:


Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. 1.Coordinates, implements and directs the Security department program for the Wichita Falls Campus of North Texas State Hospital- to ensure all functions of the department are responsive and meeting the goals of the Mission of the Security Department and the hospital. 2.Assists in developing and drafting Security Department Policy and Procedures in order to maintain an accurate P&P Manual to comply with North Texas State Hospital standards and to make available a reference for employees to seek guidance on procedures of operations. 3.Develops and maintains accurate Position Descriptions/Evaluations for personnel under his management in the Security department on the Wichita Falls campus, to comply with Human Resource standards and provide the Employee with an accurate description of their job duties. 4.Ensures implementation of the SECURITY MANAGEMENT PLAN in order to comply with North Texas State Hospital policy and Joint Commission standards and to measure and improve the performance of the Security Department. 5.Responsible for coordinating the Wichita Falls Campus Security Department vehicle program by monitoring vehicle conditions and vehicle log books, to ensure vehicles are maintained properly and records are appropriately completed and forwarded monthly to the Maintenance office. 6.Hires entry level Security personnel for the Wichita Falls Campus, adhering to DSHS hiring practices in order to replace vacant position and keep security adequately staffed to perform Security functions. 7.Attends and participates in assigned hospital standing committee meetings to provide advice and recommendations coinciding with the Security Departments QIT recommendations and the North Texas State Hospital's Security Management Plan. 8.Participate in hospital-wide projects as requested. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.Knowledge Skills Abilities:
1.Ability to work long hours in varying climate conditions; and to stay awake and alert if on a night shift.2.Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergencies. 3.Ability to maintain a driving record that allows for transporting of patients in State vehicles. 4.Ability to be flexible in location of work and shift patterns as determined by administration to meet the needs of the hospital. 5.Ability to qualify in Treatment Intervention and Protection Strategies yearly and be physically able to perform duties. 6.Knowledge of Security practices 7.Knowledge of Security related equipment. 8.Skill in verbal and written communication. 9.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 10.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. 11.Skill in using 2-way radios. 12.Skill in search techniques. 13.Skill in observation techniques.Registration or Licensure

Requirements:

Must possess valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.Initial Selection Criteria:
1.Experience in law enforcement or security work.2.Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent is generally preferred.3.Experience and education may be substituted for one another.Additional Information:

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aid, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct, and HHS OIG list of Excluded Individuals/Entities. Males between the ages of 18-25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations. The Nurse Reviewer lifts up to 40 pounds, walks extended distances and travels approximately 75% of the time. Essential Job Functions: Conducts hospital and nursing facility medical investigations and reviews to determine accuracy of data. Conducts investigations and examinations of alleged violations of laws, rules and regulations regarding fraud in Medicaid coding.
