The Southcentral Foundation (SCF) Security Officer is responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for the protection of employees, customer-owners, and visitors by protecting the property against illegal entry, theft, disturbances, fire, harm, and vandalism.

This position has two (2) levels designed to provide progressively more responsible and independent work experiences. Progression between job levels is based on the demonstrated ability to successfully handle more progressively responsible assignments.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma; OR GED.

  • Must possess certification in Basic Life Support within six (6) months of hire.

  • Must possess Basic Training certification from International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) within six (6) months of hire.

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.

  • Must meet the following conditions to qualify as an approved SCF driver:

  • Valid Alaska driver's license that meets State of Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) license requirements to include:

  • May drive in Alaska for up to 90 days with a valid out-of-State license, then must obtain an Alaska driver's license.

  • For Commercial driver licenses, you must obtain an Alaska CDL within 30 days of becoming a resident.

  • No more than three (3) moving traffic violations (as defined by Alaska Statutes Title 28); OR two (2) at-fault traffic accidents in the previous three (3) years.

  • The driver must not have had 'Driving Under the Influence' (DUI); OR 'Driving While Intoxicated' (DWI); OR 'Operating Under the Influence' (OUI) violations as follows:

  • Zero (0) violations in the past five (5) years.

  • No more than two (2) violations in the past ten (10) years.

  • Drivers must be at least 18 years of age. Drivers 18 through 20 years of age may only transport equipment, materials, and employees. Drivers who transport customers must be 21 years of age or older and must have completed the probationary period of license requirements for Alaska.

  • Prior to hire date, must provide current copy no more than 60 days old of driving record from issuing State.

Additional Qualifications for Security Officer II: Meets all requirements of Security Officer I in addition to the following:

  • At least one (1) year of security experience; OR equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

  • Successful completion of job progression to Security Officer II.

Summary The Lead Security Officer provides services for a variety of large and small business clients where health, safety and security is our #1 priority. This is a public environment at the FedEx Shipping Center and surrounding areas with the corresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.). Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Personally monitors either visually, electronically or audibly a variety of assigned areas, or grounds by working in a variety of assignments including but not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, other locations deemed appropriate. * Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance. * Will verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers and clients. * Will directly supervise, support and coordinate the activities and schedules of security officers. * Works with client and area organizations to ensure cooperation and coordination of activities. * Consistently manage assigned activities, internal communications/teamwork, making decisions and solving problems. * Ensures all activities and personnel comply with appropriate safety requirements and sound business practices. * Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol. * Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the facilities to determine they are secure. * Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, accordance with company policies and procedures. * Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators. * Notifies on site individuals of visitors wishing to see them. * Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol. * May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs. * May issue and record ID badges. * May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational. * Notify supervisor if safety and sanitation standards are not being met. * Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may be assigned. * This position is responsible for the supervision of staff. Minimum Requirements * High school diploma or GED equivalent. * At least three (3) years full-time Professional Security, Law Enforcement or Military experience with one of those years being in a supervisory role. * A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy. * Must be able to obtain Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge. * Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work. * Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients. * Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision. * Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation. * Must be able to work a one (1) week on / one (1) week off rotational schedule. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. * Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client.
