Duties

  • Incumbent is the Wing Commander's principal advisor in all law enforcement and physical security matters.

  • Serves as the Wing AT/FP Officer.

  • Plans, schedules, controls, and directs all unit functions.

  • Performs a variety of DFC and supervisory functions to include assigning work to subordinates by selective criteria such as the difficulty of the assignment, capabilities of the employee, or present work load assigned to each employee.

  • Serves as the highest technical authority in regards to security for the wing.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard.

  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

  • This position is INDEFINITE NTE 24 months, with possible extension up to 60 months, and permanent potential.

Qualifications

MILITARY GRADES: O3 through O5

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. Must have the education and validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade for one of the seven organizational program disciplines and its applicable Security Series career.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, as indicated in the table, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.

The Human Resources Officer (HRO) is the final approval for all ETP waivers. If approved, the memorandum will be returned to you and then submitted with your application.

Education

You may combine education with specialized experience to meet the length of experience requirement for GS-12. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

To receive credit for Education, you must provide transcripts or documentation of proof that you meet the Education requirements for this position.

Superior Qualifications and Special Needs Pay-setting Authority may be considered for this position. Contact the INNG HR Office for information about this policy. TAG is final approval authority for incentive programs (applicable to federal employees or those with a 90-day break in service). This must be approved prior to your appointment date.
