Coeur Rochester, Inc., a subsidiary of Coeur Mining, is seeking Security Officer for its surface heap leach operations east of Lovelock Nevada.

Specific Duties and Essential Functions

  • Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle

  • Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards

  • Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons and ability to contact and know MSHA

  • Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking or carrying forbidden articles

  • Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits

  • Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensure that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements

  • Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities

  • Provide assistance to customers, employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner

  • Ability to Train contractors and handle the documentation

  • Provide inspections of vehicles and Equipment

Education, Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

  • Must complete any State-required training or other qualifications for licensing

  • Must successfully complete a State licensing test if driving a company-owned or client-provided vehicle

Experience Required

  • Must possess one or more of the following:

  • Associate's degree or higher in any discipline

  • Service in the active duty military, military reserves or National Guard

  • Service in auxiliary police or police cadets

  • Meaningful and verifiable work history

  • Minimum of one year verifiable and successful security experience

Skills Required

  • Ability to operate radio or telephone equipment and/or console monitors

  • Ability to interact cordially and communicate with the public

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Active listening skills

  • Ability to assess and evaluate situations effectively

  • Ability to identify critical issues quickly and accurately

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to train and learn how to train new material to contractors

  • Must be at least 18 years old or the minimum age required by the State

  • Must be a U.S. citizen or a foreign citizen authorized to legally work in the United States

  • Must have access to reliable transportation

  • Must not use illegal drugs. Must submit to a pre-employment drug test

  • Must submit to an extensive background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications, and Department of Motor Vehicle and credit checks if applicable

  • Must be able to provide, upon job offer, a DD214 discharge document with discharge status indicated, if prior military

  • MMPI - Psychological testing, if armed or otherwise required

This position may be at a Maximum Security Prison. Incumbents perform in a trainee capacity and acquire the knowledge, skills and abilities required in this occupation. THESE POSITIONS ARE LOCATED IN LOVELOCK, NEVADA. If you are interested in a Las Vegas position, please apply to their specific job announcements. Minimum qualification is to list 2 years of your most recent full time or equivalent work history. Work history can be part time or full time work, military or college experience after high school graduation. Make sure the FTE column on the right side of the work history section totals 2 years or greater. Although 2 years is the minimum qualification, please list your most recent 10 years of work history and any additional correctional officer related experience. 1 week to 2 weeks after your application has been reviewed you will be invited to a Physical Fitness testing date. If you pass all events then you will stay the remainder of the day to complete additional pre-hire activities to include background documents, a psychological test, an interview and drug test.
