This position is responsible for maintaining overall security of the facility, including protection of students, employees and school property. The Security Officer is responsible for the enforcement of school safety and security policies, performing required rounds and dealing with emergencies as they arise. In addition, the Security Officer must demonstrate the ability to think clearly and independently and work collaboratively with all peers.
This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a current state-issued driver's license in good standing.
Minimum of one year of work experience in security.
Must possess a guard card
Must possess emotional maturity, honesty, reliability, as well as an ability to understand and follow directions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrol all facility premises to prevent and detect signs of intrusion and ensure security of doors, windows, and gates.
Answer alarms and investigate disturbances.
Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of students, employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises.
Write reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences.
Call police or fire departments in case of emergency, such as fire or presence of unauthorized persons.
Circulate among students, visitors, and employees to preserve order and protect property.
Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
Inspect and adjust security systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure operational use and to detect evidence of tampering.
