Job Description

Allied Universal has security jobs and are seeking to fill the position of Professional Security Officer. For all full-time positions, we offer medical, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, 401K, sick pay (in states where required), employee assistance programs, company discounts, perks and more! We also offer part-time and flexible schedules!

As a Professional Security Officer for Allied Universal you will be responsible for the security and safety of our client's property and personnel. As the Allied Universal Security Officer, you will know all site-specific policies and procedures, and implement emergency response activities as appropriate, while providing superior customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, or 5 years verifiable experience

  • Possess effective written and oral communication and interpersonal skills with ability to deal with all levels of personnel and the general public in a professional and effective manner

  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.

  • As a condition of employment, employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a drug screen in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws

  • Driving Positions: must possess a valid Driver's License with at least one year of driving experience, a clean driving record (no major violations within last 36 months, no more than 1 accident in last 24 months, no more than one minor moving violation in last 24 months), a minimum level of insurance as required by Company policy, and the ability to safely operate a vehicle required.

  • Display exceptional customer service and communication skills

  • Have intermediate computer skills to operate innovative, wireless technology at client specific sites

  • Ability to handle crisis situations at the client site, calmly and efficiently

  • Able to:

  • Work in various environments such as cold weather, rain/snow or heat

  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 40 pounds

  • Climb stairs, ramps, or ladders occasionally during shift

  • Stand or walk on various surfaces for long periods of time

Summary TheSecurity Officer provides services for a variety of large and small businessclients where health, safety and security is our #1 priority. This is a publicenvironment at the Downtown Transit Center and surrounding areas with thecorresponding levels of traffic (employees, visitors, customers, etc.). Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Personally monitors either visually, electronically or audibly a variety of assigned areas, or grounds by working in a variety of assignments including but not limited to roving inside the facilities, roving in a vehicle, other locations deemed appropriate. * Will monitor surrounding facilities to include but not limited to: parking garages, stairwells and busses. * Ensures own actions and those of others observe maximum level of safety and compliance. * Will at times use restraints to include but no limited to: hobbles, Tasers, handcuffs or other mechanical restraints. * Will verbally de-escalate situations to ensure the safety of fellow employees, customers and clients. * Examines doors, windows, and other areas of the facilities to determine they are secure. * Reports and records data such as property damage, unusual occurrences, etc.in accordance with company policies and procedures. * Warns violators of rule infractions and may apprehend or expel violators. * Notifies on site individuals of visitors wishing to see them. * Assists in properly responding to a variety of emergencies or disasters in order to preserve life and property, including but not limited to fire safety, active shooter protocol. * May perform routine input or monitoring of safety and life support computer programs. * May issue and record ID badges. * May check heating, lighting, sprinkling, security, ventilation, fire, etc., systems to make sure they are operational. * May also be combined withother position duties * Notify supervisor if safetyand sanitation standards are not being met. * Otherduties that are pertinent to the department or unit's success also may beassigned. * Thisposition has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications Minimum Requirements * High school diploma or GED equivalent. * At least two (2) years of security, law enforcement or military experience. * A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS' vehicle insurance policy. * Must be able to obtain and pay the Alaska Guard License fee of $97.00 prior to beginning work. * Must be able to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers and clients. * Must be able to make decisions in the moment with little to no supervision. * Must be able to be on your feet for 12 hours per shift for the scheduled rotation. * Must be able to work a rotational one (1) week on / one (1) week off schedule. * Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English. * Must meet and adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations set forth by the company and client. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Weather:Indoor/Outdoor. Frequently exposed toarctic conditions. Noiselevel: Moderate to Loud Descriptionof environment: This is a public environment located at the Downtown TransitCenter.
