POSITION: Security Monitor

EFFECTIVE DATE: January 23, 2024 or as soon as criminal history is cleared

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least five years of public safety experience in the State of New Jersey

• Knowledge of school district community and operations.

• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively

• Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status

• Demonstrates ability to work successfully with students and adults

• Spanish speaking preferred

REPORTS TO: Building Principal and School Business Administrator or Designee

JOB GOAL: To provide for the safety and security of District students and staff and provide traffic direction and control.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide for the physical safety and security of the school building by securing and monitoring entrances and exits

• Directs traffic in District owned parking lots

• Works collaboratively with local law enforcement officers

• Immediately notify the principal or other building administrator of hazardous conditions in and around the school building and work to resolve them immediately

• Respond to emergency situations

• Monitor and clearly communicate on portable radio system

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10 Month, Non-Unit Position

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with New Jersey State law and the provisions of the board's policy on evaluation.
