Description

SUMMARY: Reporting to the Chief of Compliance and Engagement, the Security Manager is charged chiefly with leading the efforts to best ensure Logan University is a safe and secure campus, which includes the protection of property and people associated with the institution.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide security, including conducting routine patrols, monitoring suspicious and threatening behaviors, watching for irregular or unusual conditions that may pose a safety or security hazard, and maintaining law and order on campus.

• Respond to alarms, distress calls and threats while serving as point person for law enforcement and emergency services provider as necessary. This includes assisting with drills (emergency, fire, tornado, armed campus threat).

• Work in coordination with the Plant Supervisor for services related to execution of drills, emergencies, maintenance and general operations

• Ensure that all forms related to the security function are developed and updated, including organizing of incident reports, daily crime log, post-orders and similar

• Oversees that all aspects of the security function are performed in a diligent manner. This includes managing the officers as provided by contracted partners, and ensuring that those officers are providing the level of procedural awareness and service appropriate for campus

Serves as member of the Safety Committee, Behavior Intervention Team and Clery Compliance Team, and other duties as related to safety and security as assigned

Qualifications

COMPETENCIES: Should have a strong grasp of safety and security best practices that employ non-lethal force, including de-escalation methods.

Must demonstrate an ability and willingness to communicate effectively with every department, office and constituency of the university, including employees, students, guests and visitors. Must be organized and detailed in security related data and report writing. Should have general knowledge of computers, word processing, spreadsheets, and security based software and systems. Should maintain updated training and certifications as required by the position.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in criminal justice preferred.

Relevant experience providing customer based security and/or law enforcement experience will also be considered. Preference given to those with security experience on a college campus.
