Our work depends on a Systems Engineer/Analyst, Senior joining our security management team to support the United States, Department of State activities located in Washington DC and remotely.

You will be responsible for managing security activities, tasks, and audits in support of the client, customers, and team members. Understanding security practices, permission, auditing, and assessment are essential to succeed in delivering support to our government customer.

  • Provide day-to-day support directly to the DT/ES/CCS Consolidated ISSO's.

  • Support and maintain the DT/ES/CCS ISSO Consolidated Mailboxes and provides appropriate responses, to technical security related issues as needed.

  • Support and maintain the DT/ES/CCS ServiceNow ticket queue addressing customer requests for assistance, for tickets escalated by ITSC & DSS.

  • Provide responses to requests from various DOS Offices: Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Computer Incident Response Team (CIRT), Bureau of Legal (L), and others, as needed.

  • Provide security audits and continuous monitoring efforts for DT/ES/CCS and Consolidated Bureaus and Domains (WASHDC, CA, DS) utilizing Government-owned tools for systems, environments, services, assets and off-premise/cloud platforms for compliance with FAM/FAH Information Security policies, procedures and guidance.

  • Respond to DT/ES/CCS and Consolidated Bureaus and Domains and provides security compliance to higher level authorities and/or reporting structures of destruction, alteration, or denial of access to information.

  • Respond to security reports for DT/ES/CCS such as intrusion detection, security breaches, and security incidents.

  • Support, validate, and approve DOS customer access requests for DOS Unclassified, SBU, and Classified networks, and DOS-approved Cloud platforms.

  • Provide secondary duties will provide assistance in managing and performing Assessment & Authorization (A&A) responsibilities for IRM/OPS/CCS applications, systems, and environments in the Xacta tool IAW the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA).

  • Provide oversight to ensure that DT/ES/CCS complies with numerous National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publications, as well as numerous DOS Foreign Affairs Manual and Foreign Affairs Handbooks (FAM/FAH) security policies such as 1 FAM 276.4-3 Operational Support Services (DT/ES/CCS ); 12 FAH-10 H‑100 Unclassified/SBU Information System Security Controls; 12 FAH-10 H-352 Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) Designation; 12 FAH-10 H-353 System Administrator Designation; 12 FAM 620 Unclassified Information System Security Policies; and 12 FAM 632.1‑2 Appointment of an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO).

Desired Skills or Experience:

  • Personnel providing security management tasks/roles must possess or obtain one of the baseline certifications from DoD 8570.01-M based on their job function/tasks assigned.

  • Personnel must hold and maintain a Top-Secret security clearance.

  • Personnel will have a 40 hour/week; telework is authorized when approved by DT/ES/CCS .

  • Strong customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially ability to listen and understand what is being described.

  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow ticketing system; creating, updating, and closing tickets.

  • Excellent attention to detail.

  • Strong working knowledge of computer and security terms.

  • Customer service operations experience.

  • 3 years of relevant experience.

Education and Clearance:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Top Secret clearance

  • One or more industry standard certifications- , Security+, Network+; etc. preferred

The likely salary range for this position is $101,566 - $120,750. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
