Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Safety & Security, performs safety and security responsibilities related to emergency management, incident command, and incident reporting and documentation.

Job Duties:

Provide overall safety and security services for the campus site. Patrol campus to ensure security of rooms and restricted areas as required. Respond to and monitor any reports of accidents, disturbances, incidents, or emergencies at the site.

Maintain a log of activities. Adapt to the all-hazards concept for his/her respective campus as set forth by the Director of Safety and Security.

Observe Student Code of Conduct relating to student responsibilities and behaviors, and report code violations to the Security Supervisor.

Report all theft reports on campus and work to ensure all reporting procedures are completed. Complete theft/incident reports and forward to the Security Supervisor.

Oversee parking enforcement as well as monitoring smoking violations.

Observe fire alarm and security panels to ensure operational integrity and report any trouble alarms. Respond to all fire alarm activations and document each alarm. Aid in investigation of all fire alarms to identify possible cause.

Responsible for the role of Incident Commander in the event of any emergency incident on campus while on duty until relieved.

Maintain knowledge of BCTC emergency procedures and action plans and procedures of local police, fire, EMS and emergency services.

Monitor surveillance (CCTV) equipment when assigned.

Have knowledge of the process of inspecting the operational readiness of AED (automatic external defibrillator).

Maintain custody and inventory of room keys and key cards while on-duty.

Follow-up and document with the security supervisor code deficiencies as noted while on-duty.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 1year of related experience.

Commitment to the mission of Bluegrass Community and Technical College.

Knowledge of general security responsibilities and emergency procedures.

Personal and professional integrity with an attention to detail.

Must have good communication and interaction skills.
