Security Guard (Part-Time; On-Call)

The security guard is responsible for the safety and security of visitors, staff, collections, building, and other assets of the Sheldon Museum of Art. Work as a team with visitor services associates to provide an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere for personnel, volunteer, interns, and visitors. Must be able to walk and/or stand for long periods of time and maintain an alert attention to surroundings. Flexible schedule available. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

• Monitor security cameras to identify potential threats or risks to visitors and the artwork.

• Monitor entrances to track items entering and leaving the museum.

• Provide a secure and welcoming presence in gallery spaces.

• Conduct daily security inspections of Sheldon building.

• Respond to security threats or needs in a calm and efficient manner.

• Maintain an understanding of museum functions and policies.

• Enforce and adhere to museum policies.

• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

• Assist with facilities set-up for special events as needed.

• Report maintenance and security issues to appropriate staff.
