Summary: Position will protect life, property, and assets by reducing and preventing losses and crimes against General Dynamics OTS - Garland and will operate with the highest level of honor and integrity, while conducting himself/herself with the utmost professionalism by performing duties in a manner that reflects positively upon the Protective Services Department, Security Profession, and General Dynamics - OTS
Major Position Responsibilities
Must be able to work a Flex Schedule
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Monitor security/safety systems (cameras, DVR, etc.)
Perform periodic and unpredictable patrols of buildings at various scheduled and unscheduled intervals. While on patrol, expectation will be to examine doors, windows, and gates to determine that they are secure. Position will warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, trespassing, smoking, carrying forbidden articles, not properly displaying ID (employees and/or visitors/contractors) and/or removal of persons engaging in suspicious or criminal acts from the plant.
Watches for and reports irregularities such as safety hazards, leaking water pipes, fire hazards, environmental issues, maintenance issues, and security issues.
Properly screens all incoming visitors/contractors/suppliers against all pertinent company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Observe departing personnel (visitors and employees) to guard against theft of company property.
Assists company management and safety team in any emergency situation according to policy and procedure.
Will assist both the Environmental and Safety teams with regularly assigned tasks such as administrative actions, equipment inspections, audits, monthly reporting, etc…
Permits authorized persons to enter property and deny access to anyone failing to meet entry requirements.
Officers must possess a commissioned (firearms) license through the State of Texas OR must meet qualification to obtain a license upon hire
Officers will carry state-licensed, company owned & approved firearms while working this post
Records significant events by completing daily activity logs.
Completes written reports of all types as assigned.
Officers are considered to be "on-call" during any urgent circumstance requiring assistance.

Officers will on occasion be expected to carryout assignments or handle certain situations that are uncommon, and will still be expected to handle those and any other situations in a reasonable manner. Officers finding them-selves unsure are always expected to consult appropriately through the established chain of command.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Candidate must possess at least one year of security experience.
Candidates with higher education (college) and/or military experience may be considered in the absence of the one year experience requirement.
Officers must have workplace experience in carrying state licensed firearms and/or must have worked in some other (verifiable) professional capacity (such as military) while carrying a firearm for at least a period of 1 year or more.
