Security Guard I
Participates in the daily operation of physical security controls at the main school entrance. Responsible for checking-in visitors to the school campus by scanning their driver's license, issuing a visitor badge and parking permit.
Monitors school parking lots. Assists with monitoring the entire perimeter of the property and securing/unlocking gates as needed. Works with UFPD School Resource Officer to address any security issues, including immediately notifying SRO or UFPD of any suspicious activity or persons on campus.
Patrols designated areas to ensure all visitors check-in prior to walking around the school campus.
Provides assistance to parents and school visitors by answering questions and giving directions. Assists with the setup and breakdown of the traffic circles and entrance(s) as needed.
Assists with planning, controlling, and monitoring electronic security systems. Assists with maintaining records, including but not limited to: the visitor log, contractor check-in, parking passes, and security log. Assists with the development and implementation of an effective control system, inspecting packages and monitoring building access to insure access is granted only to those so authorized.
Assists in the development of security plans for the school perimeter, campus, and classroom buildings. Pursues and completes projects necessary to ensure the safety of students, faculty, and staff as well as the security of the school property.
Provides front circle and/or student lunch coverage, on an as-needed basis. Provides security escort, as assigned by the principal or the principal's designee.
Participates in specified training provided by the University of Florida Police Department.
High school diploma or equivalent
Licensed security guard and must meet the requirements of Chapter 493, Florida Statutes.
Criminal background check
Excellent interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills. Able to work in a busy environment.
Able to multi-task and respond to last minutes requests. Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.Special Instructions to Applicants:
