Description

Mission San Luis Rey, in Oceanside, is a 57-acre property with historic buildings, living quarters for Friars, a 53-guestroom retreat center with meeting rooms, and a cemetery. The Mission has a position available for a night shift security guard. The security guard will be responsible for patrolling, observing and reporting any inappropriate, dangerous or illegal behavior. They will be responsible for ensuring that only authorized persons are on the Mission Grounds during evening hours and provide a uniformed presence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

• Provide security presence in the evening and on weekends

• Monitor and control who enters private areas of Mission grounds

• Patrol Mission buildings and grounds on foot on regular basis

• Manage disruptive on inappropriate visitors

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Ability to analyze situations and avoid escalating difficult situations

• Read and write English

• Able to walk and stand frequently and regularly

• Ability to reach and lift 25 pounds

• Able to work late evenings or through the night

• Able to work alone in outdoor environments

Qualifications:

• Three years of experience as a security guard or equivalent experience in service industry preferred

• California Guard Card preferred

• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the Mission San Luis Rey cemetery to assist customers, attend funerals, and other work-related events. The employee will walk and stand frequently and regularly, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
