Security Guard

Reporting Relationship

The Security Guard is part of the school's safety team and will report to the Security Guard Coordinator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

• Provides guests with visitor passes and maintains a safety log.

• Serves as building gatekeeper to address questions and minimize interruptions of the school administration.

• Participates in and leads fire drills, shelter drills, and safety procedures.

• Participates in arrival and dismissal duties.

• Performs all duties designated by the director of operations or the security manager for the school's successful functioning.

• Monitors all cameras.

• Signs visitors in and out of the building.

• Patrols and monitors hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.

• Ensures a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations.

• Assists with student supervision in the breakfast and lunch periods and with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of students.

• Assists with arrival and dismissal traffic duties.

• Notify building administration, police, and/or appropriate emergency personnel of any emergency, potentially dangerous, or unusual situations.

• Assists administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.

• Detects, investigates, and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities.

• Challenge unauthorized visitors and escort them to exits.

• Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a role model and dressing and grooming professionally.

• Display ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agencies associated with the school.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma

• SORA License Required
