Job Description

Allied Universal is looking for a Security Field Supervisor to assist the management team with supervision, training and mentoring our Security Guard Force.

Allied Universal is currently hiring a Field Supervisor (FS) to support operations for remotely managed accounts by performing on-site supervision of Security Professionals (SPs) and ensuring site coverage at all times. FSs work closely with Operations Managers on a day-to-day basis to supervise remote service delivery.


  • Perform day / night site visits to inspect & supervise SPs in field

  • Address escalation of "after hours" & "cold start" calls to ensure sufficient coverage at customer sites

  • Work with Operations Managers to coach, counsel, discipline, train, and manage relationships with SPs

  • A Field Supervisor (FS) supports operations for remotely managed accounts by performing on-site supervision of Security Professionals (SPs) and ensuring site coverage at all times. FSs work closely with Operations Managers on a day-to-day basis to supervise remote service delivery.

  • Responsible for visiting assigned post locations on a regular basis (specific schedule varies) to monitor performance, address daily operations issues, communicate policy changes or company information, adjust staffing schedules as needed, and make post inspections to ensure professional image (including the hygiene and uniform appropriateness of officers) and quality standards are being maintained; Post inspections also include checking that Post Order manual and all other post and training information is being properly maintained and updated, and that the Post is being properly maintained, cleaned and organized;

  • Responsible for conducting on-the-job training, in coordination with Post Commander, of new employees assigned to post, or when changes to post orders are made this may include orientation to the post, review of post orders, routine responsibilities, and how to respond to emergency situations or specific client needs;

  • Respond to call-offs that occur during the FS's shift, which may include identifying other individuals to fill-in and/or standing post until such replacements arrive and also assist Scheduler with scheduling for call-offs or other changes that occur at the site;

  • Identify any personnel problems occurring at posts, such as payroll issues, employee relations complaints or other concerns, and forward any such issues to Operations Manager and/or Corporate HR Director; may also be responsible for writing a report of the situation or assisting with an investigation, as directed by Operations Manager or Corporate HR Director;

  • May be responsible for administering counseling or disciplinary actions that have been initiated by Branch Manager and/or Corporate HR Director; Field Supervisor may not make or initiate such decisions on his/her own, but may execute such actions at the specific direction of Branch/Corporate HR management;

  • Distribute information to posts as directed by Branch or Corporate office, which may include communicating such information to Security Officers at posts and/or obtaining signed acknowledgements or other documents, and returning such documents to Branch or Corporate office;

  • Respond to client or site emergencies as they arise, including ensuring appropriate communication to Operations and/or Branch Manager;

  • In the event of an abandoned or open post, Field Supervisor is responsible for identifying available qualified personnel to fill the post as quickly as possible, however, Field Supervisor may be required to "stand post" on an as-needed basis for an undefined period of time, depending on business needs; this may include long-term assignments to specific posts or various posts as needed;

  • Field Supervisor is responsible for maintaining all current BSIS licenses and ensuring a working knowledge of all posts within his or her regional area of responsibility;

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent required. Some college education or business classes desirable

  • Minimum 3 5 years of professional-level experience required and prior experience in the security industry, law enforcement and/or military highly desired;

  • Experience in scheduling, operations or other functions of security industry a plus;

  • Current state issued driver's license, clean driving record (no points in prior 3 years), and ability to safely operate a Company vehicle required;

  • Energetic and focused personality with a demonstrated ability to take initiative, successfully handle and prioritize multiple competing assignments and effectively manage deadlines;

  • This position requires excellent attendance and punctuality. Incumbents must commit to being on time, must be able to work in a very independent environment, and ensure all directions and instructions from the branch office are followed consistently and thoroughly (such as delivery of items to client sites, training of officers at sites, standing post as needed, etc.).

  • Ability to write effective and concise reports in neat, legible handwriting is required;

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software a considerable plus;

  • Professional, articulate and able to use good independent judgment and discretion;

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills required;

  • Ability to successfully interact at all levels of the organization, including with clients, while functioning as a team player required.

The Director of Police, Security & Parking reports directly to the VP of Operations and Facilities and manages the day to day operations of the Hospital Police, Security & Parking Department. Responsibilities including the overall leadership of the daily and long range operational activities of the department; directly manages the design, implementation, setting and interpretation of policies; creates and establishes trainings and quality assurance procedures; and the establishment of strategies; maintains a computerized revenue control operation; generates and prepares management reports and investigates and resolves problems. The scope of the position includes leading the human resources management of staff; is the key driver in establishing, promoting and maintaining hospital security and property protection in all assigned facilities. The Director of Police, Security & Parking is also responsible for spearheading and planning the organization's initiatives, security systems and safety programs and in implementing procedures to promote alignment with corporate and facility, security goals and objectives, for an overall safe and secure organization. The director is also deeply involved in the direction and support of the facility leadership as needed to facilitate an improved service. Responsible for Parking revenue and cash handling. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation. ADMINISTRATION * Provides best in class services while meeting and maintaining familiarity with applicable rules, accreditation and regulatory issues and requirements that required Departmental, Hospital, JCAHO, OSHA and safety standards are adhered to by assisting with problem resolution. * Plans, developments, monitors, oversees and coordinates security and parking efforts and activities across the company, including, human resources, communications, legal, and all other departments and maintains relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies. Demonstrates active support of organizational initiatives. Master and maintains quantitative skills for data analysis that will facilitate change efforts for improvement in work efficiency and quality. * Conducts and attends regular staff meetings and attend meets with other department heads to plan, evaluate and coordinate the activities of the department. Demonstrates corporate citizenship, by participating in activities external to assigned work unit/departments. * Responsible for the organization and implementation of all investigations, of security related incidents and oversee the direct investigative work that is performed by the Investigators and/or contracted investigative agencies. This may require coordinating various aspects with municipal state and federal law enforcement agencies and internally with Administration, Human Resources, Legal and Internal Audit. * Collaborates with a variety of BWH and Partners employees to develop appropriate protocols to help establish appropriate hospital responses. Works closely with representatives from high risk areas to assure that appropriate countermeasures are put in place. * Oversee all related Security Operations Team and is responsible for 3 direct report managers; 2 of investigators; indirect reporting relationship of 9 supervisors and 100 of security officers. * Oversees all garage and valet operations. Works with outside agencies to plan for parking spaces and shuttle operations. Ensures proper relationships are maintained with adjacent neighborhoods. STRATEGIC PLANNING AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT * Responsible for the development and implementation of security policies and procedures, responses to emergent situations, and performs Security Risk Assessments. Delivers safe, effective services while analyzing sentinel events and errors, develops and implements strategies to address the conditions that contributed to these situations. * Analyze BWH performance and ensures scores are showing improvement for all operations in security and parking. Implements safety and security methodologies effectively, to improve the customer experience. Examines quality of work product for department and creates activities designed to monitor and improve compliance. Develop emergency procedures and incident responses. * Aligns departmental goals with organizational strategic direction and actively formulates the structure, to reach or exceed those strategic goals. HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT * Effectively, hires, coaches, trains and uses appropriate corrective actions with staff in accordance with BWH policies and procedures. * Maintains accountability for annual competency assessment of staff. Provides staff with accurate performance feedback and the opportunity to set developmental goals. Creates an environment conducive to retaining staff, by developing and engaging employees. Implements strategies to improve employee satisfaction inclusive of strategies to involve employees in decision making. * Conducts and documents regularly recurring staff meetings at which pertinent information such as policy and procedure changes are communicated. Encourages staff to celebrate successes, express concerns and identity opportunities for improvements. * Addresses conflicts and issues between managers, supervisors and employees within the department. * Responsible for the development of the department's in-service training programs including staff development. Ensures that proper training is conducted in compliance with JCAHO, HIPPA and regulatory standards. * Partners with Human Resources to ensure employment relationships, employee compensation and benefits are implemented in a manner consistent with hospital policies and procedures. Acts as a liaison between subordinate managers and the Human Resources Department. Counsels Managers regarding appropriate employee relations, strategies and techniques. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT * Develops and submits budgetary requests on or before stated deadlines. Monitors and analyzes budgetary trends. Implements strategies to increase revenue/decrease costs and cost-effectively manages personnel, supply and equipment resources. Makes necessary adjustments to ensure goals are achieved and meets budget projections. Recognizes opportunities for increases in productivity, cost savings, overtime control, and revenue generation. * Accesses and utilizes appropriate administrative/ clinical/financial systems. * Develops and monitors the operating budget. Fiscal management responsibilities include, in part: on-going accountability for costs as related to daily service, appropriate use of overtime budget. COMMITTEE RESPONSIBILITIES * Responsible for maintaining liaison and participating as a representative of the Hospital in the Partner's Security Council, and the Longwood Medical and Academic Committee on Security. * Liaison with General Counsel Office as needed. * Participating member of departmental, Hospital wide, Partners and external committees. Degree in Criminal Justice, or equivalent * Master's degree in applicable discipline preferred EXPERIENCE: Specify minimum creditable years of experience and clearly indicate if preferred or required.
