Mission

As a Security Field Engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with various Databricks Go-to-Market teams as a security and compliance subject matter expert to differentiate Databricks security to our customers. You will help prospective customers and partners understand Databricks security, explaining technical features, helping customers design architectures, improve the security collateral (e.g. white papers, security notebooks, technical documentation), complete customer questionnaires, and problem-solving any potential roadblocks.

Outcomes

  • Focus on understanding and sharing the following information with customers and the Databricks sales team:

  • Security in each of the architecture layers for all Databricks business units

  • Data isolation risks and mitigation plans

  • CWE/SANS and OWASP Security threats

  • Infrastructure and cloud-related security risks and solutions

  • Identity and access management (I.e., new hires, transfers and terminations, entitlement reviews, and change control)

  • Security assurance (I.e., continuous control effectiveness testing)

  • Responding to client due diligence requests for information

  • Providing client and staff information security advice, consultative services and training

  • Be the subject matter security expert supporting all customer-facing security requirements

  • Onsite visits

  • Be a security resource

  • Collaborate with engineering teams in architecture design and review sessions

  • Collaborate with product managers on the design on customer-facing security features

  • Be a resource for the sales team

  • Provide product security training for the sales team

Competencies

  • Strong presentation skills. Able to clearly articulate security principles

  • Technical sales experience or professional consulting experience

  • Experience with public cloud security (e.g. AWS or Azure)

  • Security domain experience with SaaS, application security, and networks

  • Understanding of authorization and entitlement

  • Understanding of ISO 27001, SOC 2/3 audit, FedRamp, PCI, and HIPAA

  • Proven experience with securing SaaS enterprise security environments (single tenant and multi-tenant)

About the role: We are looking for creative problem-solver with a passion for delivering data-driven insights. This individual will have the unique opportunity to establish a data engineering and analytics function within the Product Security team. You will be part of the Information Security Business Operations team working alongside business stakeholders, security engineering, compliance and the Security Defense Center, tasked with delivering strategic insights and recommendations and developing a data platform in our AWS Cloud. Primary responsibilities include: * Partners with Security Program Ops and Security Cloud Engineering teams to develop key metrics (vulnerabilities, incidents, risk analytics, etc), data-driven hypotheses, and formulate recommendations for a wide variety of internal stakeholders, including AppD executive staff * Translates business and analytics strategies into multiple short-term and long-term projects, and manages end-to-end project execution * Evangelize security analytics insights that lead to data-driven decisions, and evangelize innovative analytics best practices * Measure and categorize vulnerability risk related to the various components of our platform (OS, Web, Database, etc); establish SLAs connected to qualitative and quantitative risk management * Drives data platform and data services roadmap from data quality to data extraction and acquisition, aggregation, transformation and warehousing, and leverages resources from multiple functions to deliver scalable solutions * Drives analytics rigor by inspecting and experimenting methodologies, and integration of AWS native technologies with in-house and 3rd party solutions. * Develop a "single pane of glass" information security health dashboard bringing together data from multiple sources into a single repository to facilitate strategic insights, historicity evolving towards predictive analytics.
