Your Impact:

You will help us enhance Axon's corporate and product security posture by hardening our system boundaries and help to keep us a few steps ahead of evil-doers. You will select, build, and advanced tooling to enable our workforce and services to operate in an efficient and secure manner. You will be the advocate of these best practices to foster a culture of security and act as a force-multiplier within the organisation.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Help maintain and operate corporate security systems and keep them in good health

  • Perform research towards architectural decisions that impact the company at large

  • Review proposed systems and services and make suggestions beyond just the minimum effort

  • Survey the backlog of projects, prioritise appropriately, and shepherd solutions through with persistence

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years professional experience

  • Ability to think creatively about potential attack vectors, and propose creative solutions

  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-stress situations - often with deadlines

  • Understanding of current and emerging issues with technology issues including security trends, vulnerabilities, threats, and attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures

  • Ability to translate complex issues in technology to language understandable by a wide range of audiences

  • Passionate about security; involved in the security community

  • Experience in developing or researching technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks

  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in designing and implementing complex security solutions from the identification of a need to guiding it into a fully-operationalised, well-oiled process

  • Experience across a variety of Information Security and technology disciplines - from infrastructure to applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with secure network architectures, subnetting, DNS, encryption technologies and standards, VPNs, VLANs and other network routing methods and web related protocols

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Ruby, etc to help facilitate automation whenever possible.

  • Experience with automated vulnerability scanning and network penetration testing.

Job Description: The Information Security Engineer is responsible for implementation, operation, monitoring and administration of a variety of tools and processes to protect company information in accordance with the Information Security Program and related policies. The engineer identifies security vulnerabilities, assesses risks, and recommends and implements remediations. The engineer investigates and responds to enterprise security events and incidents, and works across departments to implement security controls. Primary Duties: * Establish and maintain strong working relationships with the departments involved with information security matters (Operations, Development, IT, Legal, Human Resources, and others) * Participate in the development of Information Security Program policies, processes, procedures, standards, guidelines, and the training of staff. * Recommend and implement improvements to the effectiveness of the Information Security Program. * Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidelines for system, application and network security. * Implement, operate, monitor and improve technical security controls across the enterprise, including AV, IDS, vulnerability scanning, WAF, code scanning, web proxies, encryption and audit log monitoring. * Conduct periodic internal security reviews and risk assessments; support and coordinate internal and external information security audits. * Use a variety of vulnerability assessment and testing tools to identify security vulnerabilities and weaknesses, and ensure consistency and compliance with established standards and security policies. * Write scripts and queries to automate common IT security related tasks, including system monitoring, user access audits, and alerting. Review reports for anomalies. Take appropriate action to address alerts and report findings. * Respond to security incidents, conduct root cause analysis of incidents, recommend corrective actions and ensure corrective action completion. * Initiate special projects related to information security that may be needed to appropriately respond to ad-hoc or unexpected information security threats or events. * Identify SaaS application, infrastructure and operational vulnerabilities, assess risk, and work with network, server, help desk and software development teams to remediate issues. * Review violations of computer security procedures and discuss procedures with violators to ensure violations are not repeated. * Document information security monitoring, scanning and testing procedures. * Keep up-to-date with the security field, including emerging vulnerabilities, and communicate trends for existing and proposed security systems. * Evaluate and recommend security tools suitable for enhancing existing systems performance or operational stability. * Perform other duties to support the technical and operational security of the organization as required. Position Requirements: * Bachelors in an IT related field or equivalent experience and 3 years of experience in working in IT information security for Software as a Service applications and infrastructure. * One or more of the following certifications is desired: CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or CompTIA Security+. * Desired compliance/framework experience: familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA or PCI privacy and security requirements and ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST or CIS 20 frameworks. * General knowledge of security implications and vulnerabilities of servers, operating systems, IP networks, applications, and databases. * Strong working knowledge and experience with the Mac, Windows, and Linux operating systems. * Experience with various IT technologies related to security, including Active Directory Group Policies, LDAP, SSO, SSL, encryption and hashing algorithms, and key management practices. * Experience conducting security assessments, technology reviews and application requirements analysis from a security design perspective. * Experience with basic scripting and SQL queries for automation of controls and reporting. * Experience configuring and operating Web Application Firewalls, web servers, and reverse proxies to secure web applications. * Experience installing, configuring, and managing network and host vulnerability scanning tools, such as Nessus. * Experience managing SIEM and log management tools, such as Splunk. * Strong analytical problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Professional verbal and written communication skills in English.
