Arup's New York office currently has a need for a Security Engineer who has expertise and experience in designing physical electronic security systems, such as video surveillance and access control. The candidate should also have experience with construction administration activities, inclusive of site installation verification, testing and commissioning.
Develop concepts for security systems that mitigates the security threats and risks of a project.
Prepare drawings and specifications for the procurement and installation of security systems.
Collaborate with others both internally and externally to ensure all aspects of the security system design is coordinated with other design disciplines, such as architecture, electrical and communications.
Provide construction administration support, which includes:
Review of contractor's shop drawings and submittals
Respond to a contractor's requests for information
Conduct field verifications of a contractor's installation
Testing and commissioning of the final installation
Provide general support to the growth of the Resilience, Security and Risk business, including oversight and development of staff.
Minimum of a 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering or that of an equivalent or appropriate field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in practice of design and field related activities.
Experience with coordinating access control with door hardware.
Demonstrable experience in designing of SoftwareHouse and Lenel access control systems.
Demonstrable experience in Revit and AutoCAD.
The following skills and experiences are desirable:
Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP) via ASIS International.
Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) via BICSI.
Understanding of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles and how to apply them in the built environment
Understanding of a threat, vulnerability and risk assessment (TVRA) process.
Use of construction administration software, such as PlanGrid, Procore, and BIM360.
Strong client and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to aid in development of security objectives, communicate risk, and development of mitigation.
Analyze contractor's bid submission and change order requests.
