Division of Facilities Management

  • Northern Division

The Division of Facilities Management is a customer-driven support organization responsible for providing facilities management services to all CDHS agencies and offices. These services include the maintenance of building and grounds, custodial, capital construction (budgeting and contract management), utilities management, vehicle fleet management, building space leasing allocation, and facilities planning services. This is accomplished through a centralized statewide team that is divided into three districts and a central office. By combining our expert professional extensive facilities knowledge and strong commitment to reliable, responsive service, we enable our clients to achieve consistently high performance facilities, and long-term value. Our goal is to be an organization that meets customer expectations 100% of the time. The facilities managed by the Division of Facilities Management (DFM) include 1,400 acres of land and 349 buildings comprising 3.8 million square feet.

Facilities served: Colorado Mental Health Hospital at Fort Logan (CMHHFL), Department of Human Services (DHS) (1575 Sherman St.), Wheat Ridge Regional Center (WRRC to include the group homes) and Division of Youth Services (DYS) facilities (Prairie Vista, Gilliam, Lookout Mountain Campus, Marvin W. Foote, Mount View Campus and Platte Valley.) Provides as needed support to the Veterans Community Living Centers located in the district. Total facilities are approximately 1.9 million sq. ft. at multiple sites within the Northern Region.

Description of Job

This position exists to provide technical expertise and support in the design, installation, operation, and repair of highly sophisticated electronic systems.

This position will design and implement new systems to update antiquated electronic systems. Upgrade and repair highly complex emergency alarms, electronic door locks, fire alarm systems, programmable control systems, building automation systems, emergency power generation systems, building communication systems, variable speed motor controls, radio paging systems, building security control systems, closed circuit television security systems, computer systems and other computerized systems. Trains staff on uses and operation of electronic systems

Duties:

  • Verity the operation of equipment in assigned areas, check and approve job requests and coordinate work assignments.

  • Order and receive materials, coordinate work with others, determine, advise and/or complete repairs as needed.

  • Supply up to date information to staff. Perform related fieldwork, maintenance work on a daily basis.

  • Perform scheduled maintenance on programmable logic controls, closed circuit television systems, security systems, access control systems, integrated security electronic systems, building automation systems, personal computers and servers.

  • Install, troubleshoot, diagnose, design, redesign, fabricate, build and repair new and existing complex and intricate electronic devices, equipment and systems.

  • Read, interpret, design, draw and modify blueprints, wiring schematics and wiring diagrams to service and maintain new/existing electronic equipment, devices, systems and appliances per industry standards.

  • Design systems utilizing knowledge of closed circuit television security systems, electronic locks,programmable logic controls, security alarms, access control systems, building automation systems and integrated security electronic systems.

  • Must be able to apply professional standards to the design of electronic and manually operated systems with little or no supervision.

  • Assembles control console, write all control software for logic controller, and install system.

  • Perform instruction and training on system to security personnel.

  • Install, repair, and replace various electrical items such as circuits, switches, outlets, lighting, motors, and pumps.

  • This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignments from site to site equipped with tools and equipment to perform daily duties.

  • Performs call backs.

  • Snow removal.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

This is a full-time, in-person, essential position. Shift work may be required. Must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services of the agency

Essential Position. Positions that perform essential law enforcement, highway maintenance, and other support services directly necessary for the health, safety, and welfare of patients, residents, and inmates of state institutions or state facilities. Employees in essential positions can be only FLSA non exempt and can be required to work unexpected or unusual work hours to perform the essential and/or emergency services of the department without delay and/or without interruption.

Call Back. Call back applies when an eligible employee is required to report to work before the start or after the end of a scheduled shift.

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Applicants must have one year of experience installing, repairing, maintaining, troubleshooting electronic equipment such as security electronics, cameras, card access, building automation, fire alarm systems, etc

  • Education that relates to this position will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in installing, repairing, replacing, and troubleshooting a wide variety of electronic systems and equipment;

  • Knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and best practices of digital and analog electronic theory, telecommunications, and computer networks;

  • Knowledge and understanding of the theories, principles, and best practices of communication protocols such as IP/TCP/UDP/FTP;

  • Knowledge and understanding of fiber optic cabling handling, termination and splicing;

  • Knowledge and understanding of fiber optic transceivers and/or wireless transmitters, and repeaters;

  • Knowledge and understanding of electronics and control programming;

  • Knowledge and understanding of building automation systems

  • Excellent project management and work scheduling skills.

  • Ability to interpret and or create electronic schematics;

  • Familiarity with electrical work; ability to bend and install conduit, install boxes and terminate wiring.

  • Experience working with fire alarm systems. The exceptional candidate will have a NICET certification.

  • Fluency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel) and the ability to quickly learn new software.

  • The exceptional candidate will have 3+ years of experience working with Siemens Apogee building automation systems which includes installation, configuration and troubleshooting of control panels, FLN devices and Apogee Insight software on servers and workstations.

  • Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license.

  • Travel

  • This position will be required to drive State Vehicles as part of daily work assignments from site to site equipped with tools and equipment to perform daily duties. May be required to travel to training and meetings.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.

  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.

  • This is an essential position. You must be available for call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or without interruption.

  • Must be available for shift work. May be required to work various hours for coverage outside of normal business hours.

  • Use, Handling, or Exposure to hazardous materials

  • Explain: Proximity to moving, mechanical parts, Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals., Exposure to electrical shock, and or working in high exposed places.
  • Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation as to why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Absent extraordinary circumstances, prior disciplinary termination or resignation in lieu of termination will disqualify the applicant from future State employment with CDHS.
