Maintains a reasonably safe environment for guests and associates, protects the assets of the company, and provides qualityservice for the park's guests and associates. Protects property against theft and enforces park policies. Protects property againstvandalism and fire and enforces state laws when applicable.


  • Provides high visibility patrols of buildings and grounds of the park to provide reasonable protection of the park's property,assets, guests, and associates

  • Monitors, enforces, and correctly reports violations of park rules and applicable state laws

  • Assesses, resolves, and contains situations and takes appropriate action steps based upon policies and training

  • Gives verbal directions and assists guests and associates, including lost and/or separated guests

  • Communicates using a two-way radio and telephone

  • Calls for assistance and responds to emergency situations

  • Moves items or objects; moves or drags persons in an emergency

  • Monitors and operates park's security, safety, and access control systems

  • Performs department data entry or email functions

  • Monitors and prevents unauthorized entry into park or restricted areas

  • Observes and checks departing personnel and vehicles to guard against property loss

  • Performs walk-throughs and hand held metal detection functions to help prevent weapons or prohibited items from enteringthe park

  • Writes legible, timely, concise, and accurate statements or reports for incidents and investigations

  • Testifies in court or at a hearing if required. Makes court appearances representing Carowinds in criminal prosecutions asrequired.

  • Assists with traffic direction and control in the parking lot

  • Operates a company vehicle in accordance with park and department policies

  • Examine doors, windows and gates to determine that they are secure and answer calls to secure and un-secure same.

  • Staff various appointed posts to monitor authorized/un-authorized entrance onto property (i.e. perimeter and Paladiumposts, gates and fences).

  • Take appropriate action as directed by Loss Prevention Management on those persons in violation of park policies and/orapplicable state laws.

  • Detect and report safety and/or security irregularities (i.e. leaking water pipes, fire hazards, etc) in a timely manner.

  • Provide for security escorts for guests and associates.

  • Quickly and safely resond to a designated location in the event of an emergency situation to contact unruly guests orassociates within property boundaires.

  • Provide verbal and or written direction or information to guests and associates.

  • Direct and regulate vehicle and pedestrain traffic in parking lots and on perimeter mobile patrols.

  • Escort lost guests to designated meeting location and follow established department procedures to search for lost guests.

  • Maintain daily log of activities.

  • Provide limited mechanical assistance for guests in need of vehicle services (i.e. jump starts, water, etc.)

  • Operate emergency vehicles (i.e. fire truck, first aid van, patrol vehicle) upon completion of specific vehicle training.

  • Assist First Aid associates with various pieces of equipment when needed as well as manning the first aid station whenrequested.

  • Provide for and assist in crowd control in all areas of the property.

  • Complete detailed reports before the end of scheduled shift on incidents occurring on property.

  • Operates a fire extinguisher and water pump on the fire truck upon completion of training.

  • Escort cash control personnel during cash pick-up.

  • Ability to work with other people.

  • Good judgment with high moral and ethical standards.

  • Monitor Centra-Scan System, control access into buildings, control alarm systems related to particular buildings.

  • Maintain cleanliness and up-keep of all issued security equipment, all vehicles and areas of patrol.

  • Monitors CCTV cameras to control theft and other violations with proper documentation.

  • Audits Park locations to ensure the proper handling of money.

  • Notifies supervisory staff when problems of operation of CCTV equipment are detected.

  • Maneuverability and mobility to monitor theft and other problems.

  • Provides assistance to outside law enforcement personnel.

  • Assist in apprehension of offenders.

  • Monitors Comporium Centra Scan System to control access into buildings and to monitor buildings for theft, burglary,hold-ups and fire prevention.

  • Investigates internal and external thefts.

  • Works undercover to provide information on theft and other security related issues.

  • Maintains daily log of investigation activities.

  • Operates employee entrance/exit monitoring for prohibited items and fraudulent entry/exit. Takes necessary steps tonotify appropriate personnel when violations occur.

  • Oversees employee card access system making changes as necessary and when instructed to do so by management.

  • Implements action against violators of park policies and/or applicable state laws under the direction ot the Loss PreventionManager.

  • Maintains confidentiality in all security matters.

  • Flexibility to work extended shifts at posted locations with little or no notice. Ability to work extended shifts whenbusiness dictates.

  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, includinginitiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safetyguidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.

  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.

  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.

  • Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in EmployeeGuidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.

  • Other duties may be assigned.



  • Ability to undergo training and pass examinations as needed.

  • Ability to demonstrate positive public relations skills.

  • Meet South Carolina Law Enforcement Division security officer requirements.

  • Possess a current and valid driver's license and submit it upon request.

  • Ability to complete training for American Heart Association Infant, Child and Adult CPR cerfitication.

  • Approved black shoes, black utility belt and black or dark blue socks.

  • Good verbal and written skills.

  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV,previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provinciallaw.
