This is administrative, skilled, hands-on technical work administering and maintaining the countywide electronic security system and life safety programs.

Responsible for the maintenance and support of the electronic security system and life safety devices.

Assists with the development and maintenance of security policy and procedures and education of employees and contractors regarding the electronic security systems and life safety devices. Works under the direction of the Security and Life Safety Administrator.

The position is subject to a Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) security clearance due to its access to the various criminal justice system operations.

In the event of a natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee may be required to perform emergency duties as directed.

Assist with the Development of countywide security programs, security related systems, operational standards, regulations, life safety policies and procedures.

Reviews security planning for new facilities, including exterior layouts, interior separations and component systems, proposed building projects, integrates the recommendations from staff and provide assistance on security system performance criteria, specifications and requirements.

Assist with the work order processes and procedures for the installation, removal and modification of security, access control and keying systems in conjunction with facility management.

Coordinate access level entry, removal, activation, and deactivation for all access badges.

Coordinate time schedule event management as needed for countywide facilities.

Educates staff in security/life safety functions

Identifies potential threats and responds to security violations.

Coordinate estimating, installation, monitoring and repair of all county security elements.

Ensure all video equipment is operating efficiently and effectively.

Track, document and assist building supervisors and other various department liaisons with the scheduling and completion of life safety inspections, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual inspections of fire systems including fire alarms wet sprinkler, suppression, fire extinguishers, backflows, risers, tamper switches and fire extinguisher recertifications.

Coordinate and communicate with the local authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) to ensure life safety compliance.

Coordinate and schedule any deficiency repairs and ensure completion of all life safety fire systems.

Coordinate the fire systems contract inspections, repairs, and compliance for all Martin County sites.

Track and assist in the preparation of budget for fire extinguishers and system elements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of modern management principles, facility operations and administration.

Comprehensive knowledge on access control, life safety and closed-circuit camera systems.

Knowledge of the principles of operation and characteristics of controllers, detectors, relays, bells, sirens and telephone circuits.

Knowledge of Lenel OnGuard Access System and Ocularis Camera programming and use preferred.

Ability to plan, organize and direct the activities of employees performing security/life safety functions.

Ability to interpret, explain and enforce appropriate procedures.

Ability to prepare and review reports and maintain records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.

Must possess an Associates Degree from an accredited college or university, related three (3) years' experience in the electronic system controls and life safety devices.

Additional qualifying education and/or experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year for year basis.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License Certifications in the security and life safety fields preferred.

Work is performed indoors and outdoors.

Involves frequent interaction with people.

May require attendance at night meetings and/or outdoor meetings. Work locations will include correctional facilities and judicial campuses.

May involve working with and/or supervising jail inmate's trustees.

May involve working in a correctional environment which includes jail inmates.
