VAI is seeking to hire a full-time Security and Guest Services Coordinator to join our Security Services Department. The vision of the Security Services team is to support Van Andel Institute's scientific and educational mission by protecting the assets of the institute: people, property, and information through consistent quality service 24 hours a day - 365 days a year. The Security and Guest Services Coordinator will work alongside other members of the Security Services team to ensure a welcoming, safe, and secure environment for all VAI employees and guests.

During any given day you may be involved in:

• Greeting, welcoming and guiding visitors to our facility for onsite events or gatherings.

• Processing incoming switchboard calls and messages and routing them to the appropriate person or department.

• Ensuring a safe and secure environment and facility by verifying identification of employees and guests, signing guests in and out, and maintaining records and following established security protocols.

• Providing guests with appropriate guidance for their visit to VAI and Grand Rapids and remaining informed about current and organizational activities and initiatives as well as local area events and services.

• Follow established procedures in the event of an emergency.

Qualified individuals must have:

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 3 years of reception, front desk, or guest services experience.

• Professional, polished demeanor.

• Experience working in Microsoft Suite applications.

• Enthusiasm in making short presentations to small groups of visitors.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and remain calm under pressure.
