Position Overview:
Hoover & Strong, Inc. is looking for a self-motivated, observant, and experienced security guard to maintain a safe environment and protect the company's valuable assets. You must always be keenly aware of your surroundings and attuned to any suspicious or unlawful behavior. You will enforce our metal-free policy, monitor coworkers and visitors entering and exiting the building, monitor the security cameras and monitor the general area, taking immediate action if problematic situations arise. Along with your security duties, you will participate in the certification process for industry compliance.

The hours for this senior position are Monday through Friday from 10:30AM - 7:00PM with a half hour lunch. You will be responsible for securing and closing the building at the end of the day. This includes checking all machines, lights, equipment, etc. No weekend hours. The wearing of a uniform is expected.

Security Responsibilities (75%):

  • Ensure a safe environment through a team effort of diligent active patrol, strict access control monitoring, and equipment control.

  • Be visible and observant at all times, greeting staff, guests, and vendors in a courteous and attentive manner.

  • Respond immediately to distress calls, panic alarms, and emergency calls for disorderly conduct, disruptive persons, and incidents swiftly and appropriately.

  • Maintain the company's reputation with professionalism and legal compliance.

  • Investigate and take the appropriate lawfully action as authorized by the corporate policy on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activities, safety and fire incidents.

  • Secure premises and personnel by controlling and monitoring surveillance equipment for anything unusual, potentially threatening, and/or suspicious activity.

  • Write, maintain, and present detailed reports, noting any damages, theft, injuries, and/or other irregular activity.

  • Monitor and control door access for co-workers, guest, vendors etc.

  • Sound alarms and/or call for outside assistance when needed in emergencies (police, fire, ambulance care, etc.).

  • Monitor entrance and departure of employees and visitors with walk through metal detector to ensure product is not being removed from building.

  • Prevent losses and damage by reporting irregularities and informing violators of policy and procedures.

  • Log-in and disperse incoming FedEx, UPS and USPS packages

Compliance Responsibilities (25%)

  • Participate in certification efforts for industry compliance under the guidance of management

  • Gather, manage and record information from various departments in preparation for formal compliance audits

  • Assist in the preparation of paperwork for third party compliance organizations such as, OSHA, RJC, SCS, etc.

  • Ensure compliance with all certifications on an ongoing basis


  • Highly Prefer Associates Degree from accredited University

  • Requires a minimum of a High school diploma or GED

  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of documented security experience within the last five years.

  • Requires Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel - will be required to generate reports, analyze data, report-out on metrics

  • Must have strong communication (Verbal-Written) and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment with the ability to work independently.

  • Must be dependable and assertive.

  • Ability to provide quality customer service.

  • Working knowledge of security operations and procedures

Starting Hourly Rate: $17.00 (based on experience)

This candidate will work across our Cloud Center of Excellence, Security Engineering, Security Architecture, Incident Response, and Governance Risk and Compliance functions in the implementation of this solution.
