The Security Administrator provides management and support for security applications, security services, and monitoring solutions for all network and systems infrastructure. This position is responsible for all aspects of information security and protects the physical and virtual data resources of the university. This position is also responsible for the desktop, mobile, and network security.

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:
Receive general supervision from the Director of Cloud Infrastructure.
POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Percentage
Perform vulnerability and penetration tests and identify and develop resolutions plans for risks.
Work with internal teams to develop security protocols and solutions to improve university security posture.
Monitor IT infrastructure for security related events and analyze and resolve any issues in coordination with the Systems and Net/Comms teams.
Coordinate with the Systems team to ensure daily backups are monitored and are successful.
Coordinate with the Net/Comms team to ensure firewalls and network equipment are updated routinely.
Develop and maintain SEIM solution for monitoring security logs and incidents.
Utilize auditing and reporting mechanisms to ensure all incidents and events are documented.
Evaluate, monitor, and report to leadership the network and systems security issues and vulnerabilities.
Monitor industry security trends and provide security improvement recommendations to the Technical Services Leadership.
Provide high-quality support to university customers. Work with teams and team members to provide our customers an excellent experience.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
3 years of a combination of Systems Administration and Security Administration experience. Proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role.
Experience with network and system security scanning
Experience with network (LAN, WAN) security, intrusion detection and response.
Experience and knowledge of firewall management (Specifically CISCO, Palo Alto firewalls, and Web Application Firewalls).
Experience and knowledge of Cloud Security (AWS and Azure).
Experience and knowledge of WAF Security.
Experience with Microsoft Security platforms including Microsoft Defender for Identity, Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Microsoft Sentinel, and Azure Multifactor Authentication (MFA), Azure Virtual Private Network (VPN), and Microsoft 365 security and compliance center.
Experience and knowledge of industry trends and best practices for security, including knowledge in using Cisco, Meraki, Palo Alto, AWS, and Microsoft technologies.
Experience and knowledge in Cloud hosting instance management and creation (AWS and Azure).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Position may be required to work flexible hours, particularly given campuses' extended hours of operation, and may require occasional weekend and/or evening work.
