The Section Manager, Equipment Maintenance/Equipment Engineer is a hybrid role. The scope includes:

  • Team
  • 12 Equipment Technicians
  • Equipment
  • RTP/CuBS and Pump and Abatement Systems

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain strong safety and 5S culture

  • Support hiring, employee engagement, and professional development of staff

  • Administer training program to ensure proper equipment operation, PM schedules, and coverage

  • Provide tactical management of 4-shift RTP/CuBS and Pump and Abatement maintenance operation teams

  • Meet corporate quality standards and applicable customer-specific requirements

  • Reduce equipment-related wafer scrap and die yield losses

  • Secure equipment capacity needed to meet ramp requirements and new technology needs

  • Establish and maintain appropriate inventory of spare parts, consumables, and quartz

  • Improve equipment performance for better uptime, stability, and predictability

  • Drive equipment maintenance cost reductions

  • Develop and execute strategies to mitigate equipment and component obsolescence

  • Employ metrics to evaluate equipment performance and identify opportunities

  • Pursue maintenance objectives for improved Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost

  • Partner with key suppliers to deliver robust solutions

  • Provide technical support as the tool owner for the RTP/CuBS equipment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 3-5 years previous supervisory/management experience preferred

  • Equipment engineering or maintenance background preferred

Job Description Microchip has an opportunity for an entry level Equipment Technician I – CVD/Thin Films at our Fab 4 facility in Gresham, Oregon. This position will support Fab 4 maintenance of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Must practice excellent trouble-shooting methods and be able to work effectively in a team environment. This position will have an introductory training period, then it will transition to a mid-week night shift. Essential Functions: * Maintain and repair CVD/Thin Films systems. * Work with systems that contain radiation, electrical, mechanical, liquid, and gas hazards. * Perform preventative maintenance according to schedule and specifications. * Read and interpret mechanical prints and electrical/electronic schematics. * Use schematics, tools, and common test equipment for calibration, diagnosis, and repair of equipment. * Disassemble, adjust and repair equipment according to maintenance specifications and OEM manuals. * Communicate detailed information clearly and effectively. Job Requirements Skills/Qualifications: * AA degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or pertinent technical discipline (or planned completion in current academic calendar) Or equivalent military training, equivalent semiconductor tool maintenance experience or technical degree. * 0-2 years of experience in CVD/Thin Films equipment maintenance. * Engineering related internships/co-op/work experience is a plus. * Electronic and mechanical aptitude. Natural affinity for electronic and mechanical tinkering. * A strong desire for personal continuous improvement and learning. Ability to apply theoretical/textbook concepts in practical, real-world applications. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Basic IT and software skills (MS Office). * Solid organizational, documentation and writing skills. * Ability to contribute as an efficient and reliable team member with minimal supervision. Special Requirements: * Participation as an active member of the Fab 4 ERT (Emergency Response Team). * Ability to meet the requirements of the ERT physical. * Ability to travel on an infrequent basis.
