West Hartford Public Schools seeks an outstanding candidate for the position of Secretary at Sedgwick Middle School. The Secretary supports the school community by providing a welcoming environment and office support to staff members and students. This is a 12-month position with full benefits.
Qualifications:
Prior secretary experience.
Proficient computer skills in Google Calendar, Microsoft Office 365, PowerSchool.
Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and manage projects in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to perform responsibly, interact with staff and public in a self-reliant, courteous, and professional manner.
Ability to problem solve and work independently.
Duties: Duties for this position include, but are not limited, to the following:
Provide office support and assistance to School Counseling and Special Education departments.
Maintain general files and student records in the School Counseling Office, Pupil Service Office, and Main Office.
Maintain and facilitate general and special education/504 student records in the School Counseling, Pupil Service Office and Main Office.
Spearhead scheduling IEP/PPT/504 meeting process including elementary school transition scheduling.
Facilitate new student registrations and student withdrawals by requesting and sending all necessary records, initiating and removing student entries in PowerSchool (coordinate with Residency Office as needed.
Schedule 5th to 6th grade visits to Sedgwick Middle School.
Schedule translators for conference times and PPTs.
Provide additional support as needed and assigned by the building principal.
