12 MONTH PRINCIPAL'S SECRETARY / GRADE 4
DODD MIDDLE SCHOOL
Description:
Performs administrative and secretarial assistance of a responsible nature as instructed by the principal or his/her designee. Oversees office operations, plans and organizes work in a proactive, methodical way according to office standard procedures.
Establishes priorities within work assignments. Answers phones, providing information and assistance to parents, staff members, and others as needed or refers callers to appropriate office or staff person while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality. Prepares and independently composes letters and reports and various other documents.
Maintains school budget using Tyler ERP, including contractual and discretionary stipends. Handles purchasing for all divisions, reconciles staff time and attendance via Frontline, assists in coordinating field trips and transportation. Coordinates a variety of important events that require great attention to detail, including 8th grade promotion and NJHS ceremonies and Washington DC field trip.
Performs special assignments and routine administrative functions as directed including managing hospitality and staff events. Manages communications utilizing Parent Square and email, calendars of the principal, Building Use,CPS Safety & Security, Dodd Middle School Calendar, and Dodd Public Calendar, school website, morning and afternoon announcements, and media for monitors throughout the school. Serves as a liaison to the PTA. When needed serves as a facilities contact and the backup in the office for sub coverage assignments and daily attendance.
Supervised By:
Receives task direction from the school principal and/or his/her designee.
Qualifications:
The skills and knowledge required would generally be acquired with graduation from high school and previous general office experience. Previous public school experience preferred.
Ability to take initiative, independently carry out special projects and programs, and make judgment calls within assigned area of responsibility. Computer experience required. Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office 2010, Google Docs, PowerSchool, Frontline, Tyler, FS Direct and ParentSquare desired.
Ability to process paperwork accurately and efficiently. Ability to relate positively to parents, staff members, and the general public.
Salary:
In accordance with the Agreement Between the Cheshire Board of Education and the Cheshire Educational Secretaries and Technicians United. Grade 4, Step 1 is $28.29/hour. Benefits Available.
