Job Title: Secretary II
Reports To: Building/Department Admin
Location: Overbrook
Level: Grade 10
12 Month position
Education and experience: Graduate from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of secretarial experience.
Candidates must have experience with Google Suites, Microsoft Word and Excel. Prior experience in a school system or
related work with children preferred. Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Examples of duties: Performs a wide variety of general secretarial and clerical work such as typing, filing, filling out and preparing forms.
Prepares typewritten correspondence forms, bulletins and notices. In response to specific direction from superiors or as required by existing procedures, prepares transcripts, teacher recommendation forms, state reports. Acts as receptionist and/or mail clerk; sort and then distributes mail and other materials; operates office machines including a computer and fax machine; handles basic telephone routine for the office; gives out general information concerning the activities of the school.
Keeps all records up to date, especially permanent records. Organizes files and information system required for a smooth office function. Considerable contact with the public, parents, Town Departments and outside agencies.
Attends and is responsive to the needs of students, exercising judgments as to the priority of the situation. Understands departmental need and can assign problems, handle correspondence or answer questions intelligently. Assume responsibility for assigned duties, which may be of a confidential nature; deals with the public in a cooperative, effective and courteous manner; performs other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge, skills and ability: Clerical ability; ability to accurately follow written and oral instructions; considerable ability to deal cooperatively, courteously, tactfully and effectively with students, staff and public.
Ability to operate business machines. Must be computer-literate as required.

If the district receives notice of a conviction of a crime by a person holding a certificate, authorization or permit issued by the State Board of Education, the district shall notify the Bureau of Certification and Professional Development.
