Qualifications: Must hold a valid Ohio teaching license in the area of mild/moderate or moderate/intense intervention specialist or a master's degree in guidance, counseling, social work or related field.
Job Description:
Position: Student & Family Support Specialist
Contract: Teacher Contract 186 Days
Immediate Supervisor: Building Principal
Primary Evaluator for the following positions: Building Principal
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure safety of students
Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required
Provide guidance and counsel to the students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational development
Attend parent/teacher conferences
Counsel with colleagues, students and parents
Coordinate, supervise, and facilitate the school's Response to Intervention Program
Counsel with student, teacher and/or parent(s) regarding specific school code of conduct violations
Counsel with student and/or parent(s) regarding at-risk students
Work with appropriate school personnel (Principals, teachers, community agencies, etc.) to support and intervene in and out of the classroom with student issues when necessary
Refer students to appropriate community agencies and services as necessary
Assist the administration in implementing all procedures and rules governing student life and conduct
Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with parents through effective use of conferences
Exhibit ethica, professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgement
Organize and provide positive peer social skill groups or leadership programs
Provide mentoring to selected at-risk students which will promote their welfare and their proper educational developments
Serve as a liaison with community agencies and organizations
Provide parent awareness through meetings, media, etc.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities
Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter and present clear, complete and accurate explanations utilizing a variety of instructional techniques
Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., student grades, family history
Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation
Attend meetings and in-services as required per negotiated agreement
Plan and attend AIT meetings
Perform other duties as assigned by the building principal
