Job Summary

We are seeking a full-time science teacher, biology or chemistry preferred, at San Luis Obispo High School. Candidates should possess a single subject biological science or chemistry credential, OR have the ability to obtain a specific supplementary authorization in chemistry. To be eligible for a specific supplementary authorization you must complete one of the following requirements: 1. Complete, with a grade of C or better, 20 semester units in chemistry coursework, including a 1 year sequence in 2 separate areas, plus a laboratory component. 2. Complete, with a grade of C or better, 10 upper division semester units within the subject area of chemistry. 3. Pass the California subject matter exams for chemistry - CSET I, II, and III. The district will cover/reimburse the costs of applying for a supplementary authorization or passing the CSET exams.

Comments and Other Information

Must possess a valid California credential authorizing chemistry or biology instruction to students at the high school level. If you are in the process of completing your credential, please provide a letter from your university detailing your current status and expected conferral date. If you are from out of state, please attach a copy of your out-of-state credential. An English Learner authorization is required. Candidates not possessing this authorization will be required to complete an application for an emergency CLAD certificate upon hire and fulfill the CLAD requirements within one year. The $5000 signing bonus will be paid out in installments of $1250 with first pay warrant of the 24-25 school year, $1250 with the first pay warrant of the 25-26 school year, and $2500 with the first pay warrant of the 26-27 school year.
