Pay Grade 6

Hours:

35 hours, 10 months, 220 days (Non-exempt)

Contract Unit: This position is part of the non-supervisory support services bargaining unit.

FLSA: Non exempt

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED. Bachelor's degree or higher level of education preferred.

At least three (3) years of clerical experience. Applicable post-secondary training may be accepted in lieu of experience.

Thorough knowledge of the school district library media center philosophy, procedures, methods, terminology, routines and techniques.

Demonstrated knowledge of a wide variety of computer research tools including on-line resources and databases.

Ability to become proficient with computer applications including the district cataloging system, the student information system, the resource management system, as well as technologies commonly used by students and staff.

Ability to support students and staff effectively in their use of print and digital resources and equipment.

Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in an environment of frequent interruptions.

Excellent human relations and communication and organizational skills.

Ability to assume responsibility for the routine operations of the media center.

Responsibilities:

Use library software system to upload/download data, to circulate materials and equipment, to maintain circulation files, to inventory the collection, to reconcile discrepancies, to print reports, including usage, fines, and overdue notices as needed, and to enter bibliographic data into the digital catalogue.

Assist students and staff in use of print, non-print, and equipment resources in the library media center.

Perform bibliographic searches and prepare special collections of appropriate materials.

Staff the circulation desk.

Supervise and instruct students in the media center.

Maintain and organize print and digital text.

Assist with the processing of new materials.

Assist with or maintain bulletin board displays.

Assist with or maintain an inventory of all media center materials.

Assist with ordering and receiving materials.

May be required to assist with staff in-service training regarding technology and the media center.

Participate in planning and organizing project exhibits, book fairs, and other displays in the media center.

Perform related work as required.
