Supervises:
Essential Job Functions:
Provides and directs leadership for development and implementation of curriculum,instruction, and assessment in middle and high school curricula with an emphasis on mathematics and science
Provides leadership for delivery of professional development for administrators, specialists, and classroom teachers
Monitors the implementation of the instructional programs through school visits, data analysis, and collaboration with schools and other HCS departments
Provides leadership in evaluation and selection of instructional resources
Leads and supervises district-wide secondary instructional programs
Coordinates curriculum and assessment development, implementation and revisions
Serves as a resource in promoting the use of digital technology as an enhancement to classroom instruction
Demonstrates an application of Mathematics Design Collaborative and Literacy Design Collaborative
Assists in the disaggregation and interpretation of testing data and provides teacherswith specific strategies to improve student achievement especially in mathematics and science
Analyzes and responds to performance data to determine curriculum and professional development needs
Visits schools and observes classrooms on a regular basis to ensure consistency of instructional content/effectiveness from school to school and teacher to teacher in secondary instructional programs
Evaluates the effectiveness of instructional methods and related programs and recommends revisions as needed
Determines best practices especially related to mathematics and science and serves as a resource in the selection of research based instructional materials
Assists in the development and delivery of professional development to support the implementation of the curricula using best practices and research-based instructional strategies
Collaborates with other departments to determine ways to support the needs of all teachers and students
Stays abreast of the research regarding latest trends in curriculum, instruction and assessment to include the integration of technology
Aligns curriculum, instructional practices and assessments and creates resources toenhance implementation of these practices
Creates and disseminates formative assessments aligned with the NCSCS and the HCS instructional guides
Models lessons for secondary classroom teachers to support teacher development with content and pedagogy
Evaluates instructional programs and takes ownership for improvement efforts while seeking input from stakeholders
Completes paperwork in a timely manner and meets deadlines associated with required reports
Possesses a broad knowledge of the principles and practices of school administration and of current educational trends in curriculum and instruction
Demonstrates strong computer skills, versatile in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and online/web-based tools
Has a comprehensive knowledge of the principles, practices, and current issues in the provision of a secondary education program especially mathematics and science; knowledge and effective skills in digital resource selection and curriculum development; and knowledge and ability to design, facilitate, implement and deliver quality, effective professional development in assigned areas

The major physical and cognitive requirements listed below are applicable to the Secondary
Mathematics Curriculum Coordinator job classification within Hoke County Schools.
Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20
pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move
objects.
