Job Description: Summary
The Manufacturing Supervisor will have responsibility over all Manufacturing activities in the shift, ensuring compliance to safety, quality, delivery and cost. They will be responsible for establishing and implementing programs designed to assure control of processes and products that meet or exceed established standards and specifications. Responsible for informing management of quality problems and solutions relative to FDA and ISO compliance. They will be directly supervising a large team of manufacturing associates.
Manages shift activities to achieve an overall objective of continuous improvement in productivity, quality, cost, budget compliance and attainment of strategic objectives.
Coordinates daily shift operations to ensure timely and efficient completion of established production schedules and established reliability goals. Recommends revisions to production schedules to avoid delays and waste. Effectively communicates with other functions to maximize production and quality and ensures production equipment achieves budgeted production yields. Directs technical resources as available to resolve production problems.
Plan and execute the daily production plans according to the monthly production plan
Enters data and generate reports about the performance of the designated area (e.g. trending charts about down time, scrap, FPY, etc.)
Leads team meetings with production associates, maintenance technicians, quality technicians, and material handlers for the resolution of problems at the production floor level to improve about Safety, Quality, Cost, and productivity metrics.
Provides and facilitates training to new production associates in the designated area of responsibility.
Revise procedures and documents, such as standard operating procedures and manufacturing related documents.
Interviews and selects internal and external applicants for hourly positions, coordinates employee training, conducts performance appraisals, provides advice and assistance to employees, and fairly and consistently administers company policies and procedures.
Directs shift safety program according to established safety policies and regulations, conducts safety audits and communications meetings, participates in accident investigations and makes corrective action recommendations.
Assists the Business Unit Manager in budget development, quality improvement, cost reduction, schedule compliance, capacity planning, regulatory compliance, goal development and attainment.
Acts as leader, coach, team builder to the employees directly reporting to him/her. Builds networks and stakeholders in those non-direct reporting employees who support and enhance the continuous improvement of the manufacturing unit.
Create common understanding of customer expectations among associates, recognizing and defining consequences.
Ability to work second shift schedule Monday-Friday 2pm-10pm
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or other technical field. MBA is a plus.
At least 4 years' experience in manufacturing. 2+ years supervisory experience preferred.
Prior supervisory experience in manufacturing preferred but not required.
Must have demonstrated leadership abilities; excellent organizational & critical thinking skills; high sense of urgency; strongly motivated; balanced perspective; and an effective communicator at all levels.
Previous high speed manufacturing experience in a technical or lead role highly desirable but not required.
Experience in medical device manufacturing, and experience with Lean Manufacturing and SAP highly desirable but not required.
Must be able to read proficiently, write legibly, analyze/evaluate charts/graphs, follow simple diagrams, and follow manufacturing and inspection procedures.
Proficiency with PCs (Personal Computers) and basic use of a Windows environment is required. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (i.e. Outlook, Word, Excel).
