Seco Tools Internship Program
Seco Tools is seeking college sophomores and juniors to partake in our Summer Internship program in Troy, Michigan. The goal of our internship program is to educate you on what types of jobs are out there in the engineering industry while training you for a successful career within our organization.
The successful candidate will have interest and experience in the metal cutting industry. Our preferred candidate would have experience running metal cutting machines, be it at a summer job or through college coursework.
WHAT MAKES OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM UNIQUE?
Seco Tools has created a two-year internship program with the goal to hire once you graduate. We realize the importance of development, and that is why we've developed a multi-year program where you get to experience many facets of the engineering industry. Once you complete our internship, we'll look to hire you for the role of a Service Technician as a stepping stone into a Technical Sales Engineer role supporting a diverse mix of customers.
SUMMER OF YOUR FIRST YEAR
In the first year of the program, you'll get to spend some time in the following departments learning about how a multi-million-dollar metal cutting organization operates:
Component Engineered Tooling
Shipping & Receiving
In addition to spending a few hours or days in each of the above department, you'll get the opportunity to shadow our field sales employees for roughly 3 weeks. In this experience, you'll get to visit different machine shops and learn how to communicate with customers to grow business and increase machining capabilities.
The other aspect of the first-year internship is your summer project(s). Each intern will be given a couple projects to work on to help our business move forward. These projects will be completed by the end of the internship program and then presented to our executive team.
Previous projects have been built around creating a component engineered tooling package, implementing machine tracking software, testing against competitor parts, and removing alien product from our manufacturing facility. In this program, fully furnished housing and a competitive hourly wage will be provided.
SUMMER OF YOUR SECOND YEAR
If you liked the first-year program and we think you can become an asset to our organization, we'll invite you back the next summer for the second year of our internship program. The second-year internship program practices the role as a Service Technician, supporting our field sales employees in a given region.
The second-year program will usually be located outside of Michigan. For this program, fully furnished housing, a company car, gas, and a competitive hourly rate will be provided.
Your role in the second-year internship program is to support our field sales organization. You'll be working with them on cost reductions, testing, applications, education, etc.
This is the next step into getting into a field sales role. You'll be working with a regional team for the entirety of the summer while communicating weekly to headquarters in Troy, Mi.
Our internship program is unlike anything else, and because of that, we are very selective. We will be hiring three interns for the summer program. Do you have what it takes to be a part of the Seco Tools Internship program?
