General Description

Norwich Human Services is hiring a Facilitator for its CT Youth Employment Program (CYEP) to develop and manage work-based learning opportunities in Eastern Connecticut, recruiting and training various community partners to be workplace mentors to approximately 100 young people, ages 14-24. This position is grant-funded by EASTCONN and EWIB; hours may be subject to change based on available funding. This role includes a substantial amount of travel around the greater Norwich area. Mileage reimbursement is provided

Work Period: May 1 - Aug 31, 2024

Rate: 35 hours/week; $35 an hour

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting young people with securing work-based learning internships, conducting community outreach and recruiting new worksites.

  • Reviewing program enrollment packets, processing youth applications, conducting and scheduling interviews with youth and worksites, scheduling and conducting Youth Employment Orientation(s), tracking CYEP participants' progress, monitoring and submitting youth timesheets and arranging youth work support services.

  • Maintaining customer (youth) management database and completing required reporting.

  • Maintaining financial tracking database and completing required reporting.

  • Assist with the supervision and training of Program Assistants.

  • Facilitating workshops and internships with community partners, connecting with youth workers and worksite supervisors.

  • Assisting youth in developing skills that foster autonomy in the workplace, self-advocacy, and employability.

  • Demonstrating professionalism to youth participants.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Development, Counseling, Workforce Development, or other relevant degree field plus three years of related work experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered to provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Bi-lingual skills are a strong plus.

  • Excellent customer service, communication, mediation, and de-escalation skills; verbal and written.

  • Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access) and Google Suites (Docs/Drives, Gmail, and Classroom/Sites).

  • Capacity to complete data-entry tasks utilizing web-based systems, and maintain accuracy and efficiency in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to thrive within diverse teams and serve people with diverse socioeconomic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

  • Must have the ability to frequently travel within Eastern Connecticut with reliable transportation.

  • Must be available during the work period (no exceptions)
