The Summer Day Camp Leader works directly with children and leads general activities such as arts and crafts, sports, educational, and other age-appropriate activities. They are directly responsible for the safety and well-being of a small group of children aged 5 - 12 by ensuring appropriate behavior and that the group is in the proper location at all time. Camp leaders are an important link between the public and the Park and Recreation Department. They are directly responsible to the Camp Supervisor. Position is a seasonal part-time job.

Job Description:

  • Maintained appropriate parental interaction and communication regularly

  • Exercise good communication skills to lead large groups of Students

  • Ensure campers meet behavioral expectations and positively intervene when necessary.

  • Work with other camp staff members to plan and coordinate camp events.

  • Lead and supporting campers as they participate in age-appropriate activities.

  • Clean, maintain and ensure proper use of camp facilities and equipment.

  • Report and record details of incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to parents and camp staff.

  • Know and understand all emergency procedures and enforcing camp rules.

  • Attend weekly staff meetings as required.

Qualifications and Abilities

  • Be at least 16 years of age.

  • High school diploma, equivalent, or active enrollment in school.

  • High level of responsibility and accountability.

  • Upbeat, engaging personality.

  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

  • Team player attitude.

  • Ability to use sound judgment in challenging situations.

  • Willingness to accept responsibility for a small group of 5 - 12 year old children.

  • High level of creativity, initiative and decision making skills.

  • CPR, AED, and First aid experience preferred

Interview Information:

  • Interviews for students in high school and individuals within the Neenah area will be held in February.

  • College Students who are attending school away from Neenah will be able to interview during Christmas break. Please apply by December 21st, 2022in order to qualify for the early interviews. Interview dates for college students will start the last week in December.

  • Returning staff will not be guaranteed continued employment, but will be given first consideration.

The Youth Camp Supervisor is responsible for the planning, development and supervision of the program. Supervisors are an important link between the public and the Park and Recreation Department. He/she will report directly to the Recreation Supervisor. Position is a seasonal part-time job. An evaluation and application is required yearly for rehire.</p><p>Job Duties:</p><ul><li><p>Manage 50-60 children ages 5-12</p></li><li><p>Coordinate staffing and supervise 10-12 employees for day camp</p></li><li><p>Set up and organization of field trips, special events, and speakers, creating camp schedules</p></li><li><p>Respond to problems with parents about the child's behavior and experience</p></li><li><p>Be aware and knowledgeable of Parent Handbook and facility emergency procedures</p></li><li><p>Insure facilities are kept clean and well maintained at all times</p></li><li><p>Make decisions regarding daily program schedule changes</p></li><li><p>Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports and daily attendance</p></li></ul><p>Applications will be accepted through February 1, 2023.</p><p>Qualifications and Abilities:</p><ul><li><p>Be at least 21 years of age. 18 years of age can also be considered with experience.</p></li><li><p>2 years of supervisory or teaching experience</p></li><li><p>Ability to supervise children in a safe manner</p></li><li><p>Ability to lead others positively</p></li><li><p>Previous supervisory experience</p></li><li><p>Ability to work with varied age groups</p></li><li><p>Leadership and public relations skills</p></li><li><p>Decision-making skills</p></li><li><p>Team player attitude</p></li><li><p>Self-Motivated</p></li><li><p>CPR, AED, and First aid experience preferred</p></li></ul><p>Interview Information:</p><ul><li><p>Interviews for students in high school and individuals within the Neenah area will be held in February.</p></li><li><p>College Students who are attending school away from Neenah will be able to interview during Christmas break.
