Seasonal Sign Technician
Sign Technicians maintain and improve the traffic signs for the roads on which we drive. Their hard work is an essential asset while getting roadway projects completed safely and efficiently. Seasonal Sign Technicians have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skill set in the transportation system with Anoka County.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY):These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of a Seasonal Sign Technician.
Assist with the process of painting roadway messages (crosswalks, stop bars, arrows and other messages).
Assist in the set-up and removal of work zone traffic control for message painting operations.
Perform flagging duties for message painting operations.
Assist with the installation of traffic signs and detours throughout the County Highway system.
Assist with the fabrication of signs and other traffic control devices.
Perform routine facility/equipment maintenance such as shop/yard cleanup, washing trucks and other large equipment.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have a valid driver's license.
Ability to lift 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
Successfully pass criminal history and driver's license background check.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Work Environment
Perform physical duties.
Read and understand traffic control manuals.
Set-up lane closures with direction.
Work is completed in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions.
Safety vest, boots, hard-hat and cap will be provided by Anoka County.
$12.00 - $14.00 per hour.
Full-time; 40 hours per pay week.
Work schedule is primarily Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Schedule may vary based on business needs and at supervisor discretion. Overtime may be required on an occasional basis.
The examination/selection process for this classification will consist of a review of your training and experience from the application materials submitted. The most qualified candidates will be invited for an oral exam or interview.
