As a seasonal sales associate, your responsibilities, shifts, and employment period will be based on the needs of the business. Your leader will communicate your last day of employment as your assignment comes to an end. A seasonal position can lead to a regular position with Gap Inc.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Seasonal Sales Associate generates sales and cultivates customer loyalty by ensuring customer relationships are created and maintained while ensuring a neat, clean and organized store. Seasonal Sales Associates are responsible for creating an exceptional Brand experience in the store and are expected to perform a variety of cross-functional tasks as assigned by the Leader on Duty or as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Displays a "customer is the priority" mindset at all times

  • Consistently treats all Gap customers and employees with respect and contributes to a positive work environment

  • Accountable to contribute to the achievement of store goals and results

  • Upholds the commitments to the company's processes, values and Code of Business Conduct

  • Collaborates with store team to develop innovative solutions to business needs

  • May flex between customer or support roles as needed by the business

  • Meets or exceeds Company expectations of customer service throughout the store: genuine/authentic interactions, offering solutions or ideas to customers, providing guidance on product fit and style, fitting room experience, loyalty programs, communication and execution of customer promotions / incentives, etc.

  • Executes Omni-Channel processes to ensure customer needs are met (i.e., SFS, RIS)

  • Promotes customer loyalty by educating customers about our" loyalty" programs

  • Communicates customer feedback and opportunities with the management team to improve the overall customer experience

  • Offers current style advice and is knowledgeable on trends as well as the products we offer

  • Performs various product placement, replenishment and recovery tasks to maintain a visually appealing, easy shopping experience for our customers

  • Perform cash register functions

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience preferred

  • Ability to maneuver around sales floor, stock room, work with and around cleaning chemicals, and lift/carry up to 30lbs.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including holiday, evening, overnight and weekend shift.

The associate is also responsible for fulfillment and performing other duties as necessary. In order to present our customers with the best holiday shopping experience, many of our Seasonal Retail Sales Team Member arrive prior to store opening and remain after closing to ensure we are ready to make Macy's magic. Seasonal associates will have the opportunity to work a flexible schedule on a temporary basis, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and busy events such as the day after Thanksgiving and the day after Christmas. Essential Functions: * Be proficient in POS and MPOS systems including Search and Send, My Client and More@ Macy's tablet app; * Proactive in assisting customers who are using devices to shop and compare, whether Macy's devices or their own; * Assist customers in all aspects of total store fulfillment and have the ability to satisfy the needs of our digital and physical customers by making appropriate partnerships when necessary; * Provide an exceptional customer experience by ensuring the customer is always the priority; * Acknowledge customers in a friendly and helpful manner within 30 seconds of their entry into the area; * Handle all returns courteously and professionally; * Develop a high level of product knowledge for the merchandise in the department by reading vendor tags, pamphlets, and attending training classes in order to communicate it to the customer; * Suggest additional merchandise to compliment customer selection and engage the customer; * Offer to call other locations if merchandise is unavailable within store; * Offer to put purchase on customer's Macy's charge account toward the end of the shopping experience; * Reinforce customer's selection and package merchandise with care; * Invite customers to come back and thank them by name whenever possible; * Maintain a professional attitude with sincerity and enthusiasm reflecting Macy's commitment to our customer-the most important person in our stores; * Develop clientele customer list and increase department sales; * Follow up on purchases through e-mails, phone calls, or thank you cards; * Cross sell throughout the store to maximize customer satisfaction and store sales; * Complete support tasks such as recovering the fitting rooms and straightening merchandise as needed; * Be knowledgeable of and perform sales support functions related to POS procedures; * Be aware of back stock and fill as needed; * Be aware of current promotional events and sales; * Assist sales manager or vendors with special events as needed; * Adhere to Asset Protection and inventory control and compliance procedures; * Maintain department recovery standards; including fitting room go backs to standard, if applicable; * Perform other duties as necessary; * Follows shortage programs and procedures; * Perform these functions in an efficient manner, as directed by the Supervisor; * Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality; Qualifications: Education/Experience: * High School Diploma or equivalent. * A minimum of one year of related experience and/or training.
